About this listen

My name is Sasha Bowman, and I am a member of the Reactance.

An awakening of a dormant gene has ripped my home and community apart, giving society yet another reason to hate and even kill each other. Some people are scared of us, and for good reason.

I did not ask for this gene, nor did I give anyone permission to control it, but the government has put a DiaZem in charge to do just that. This murderess, Queen DiaZem, wiped out those in the city without the gene, including my father.

Now, I must fight with the Reactance to stop the DiaZem’s apparent power and ensure these genes are returned to their dormant state.

Great story

Interesting story. I got a little confused on the timeline, but the story was still good. I enjoyed it. I look forward to reading Apparent Power.

Solid prequel

I enjoyed the diary style telling of this story, and the origins of world building. The story was a little fast paced and vague, but that worked with the diary style from a teenagers point of view.

I am generally an audio only person, but am getting this series on kindle because I really want to see where this world takes me.

the end of the world is electric!

I really liked this story! the perspective of the main character gives a point of view I'm not use to, mostly as an avid horror reader. it's a different genre entirely different than what I normally read, but I thoroughly enjoyed the story!

it's basically the end of the world as we know it, only people have unlocked the power of electricity in their DNA. you end up with this hunger games type young adult story from the perspective of a teenage girl. there's a lot of things I never thought about in situations these types of stories portray. like love and relationships, and finding your place in a community after the world we know ends. overall, I'm looking forward to the rest of the series!!

Gave me chills

This was an incredible preview into Apparent Power! I have been eagerly awaiting Apparent Power for months now, and this quick read has only made me even more excited! I loved the raw honesty of the narrator in her journal entries.

I am a huge fan of Dystopian stories, and this one DID NOT disappoint! I would definitely recommend it without hesitation! The main character/narrator is easy to relate to and believable. Her struggles with her emergence into adulthood and the terrifying reality of being dragged into political warfare in a dystopian society are realistic, relatable, and engaging!

Without giving away anything, the ending of this novella gave me literal chills! I cannot WAIT to get my hands on Apparent Power in a few weeks and continue my adventure into the DiaZem world!
