About this listen

The mission failed but hope is not lost....

The Reclaimer's attack on the Gateway didn't go as planned, but a dying man's words sparked a revolution.

Alec receives a message from the Barony, a group in the UK, letting them know they have allies around the world.

Dex is still on the other side of the Occupation, but he knows he'll have to make a move soon.

Lina and Monet are sent on a mission to Shanghai to stop the production of a device keeping the aliens alive in our atmosphere.

Cole and Soares head out with a one way-ticket through a Gateway, in an attempt to permanently close them.

Reclamation pits our humanity against the dreaded Overseers, in a world where only one of them can survive.

Reclamation is the final book in the sweeping post-invasion series, Rise, by Devon C. Ford, the author of After It Happened, and Nathan Hystad, the author of The Survivors.

Last in a great series

The author did a great job being original in story, characters, and the pick of Ray Porter for the narration. I recommend this audiobook.

A well crafted ending

Closure, tense moments and plenty of sacrifice. This was every bit as good as the previous two.

Excellent series - maybe another?

This was an enjoyable series! The main characters are still young enough to do a follow series on the return.?

Maybe?

Waiting for next Galaxy’s Edge book? Read this!

Who will like this? Pretty much anyone who appreciates being drawn into the different characters’ stories as much as the sci-fi / alien occupying earth concept. There is definitely a little gore and violence here, but not remotely in the same league as the Galaxy’s Edge or Ember War series.

Is it a slow or fast start? Fast. Definitely doesn’t take long to get invested in the stories. Some may feel it moves too fast because it doesn’t get too bogged down in the details. Personally, this is what I wanted this week. Just good storytelling with good narration.

Notes on the narrator: I like Ray Porter more and more every time I listen to his work. He’s great with distinctive male voices and accents. He’s also perfect if you like to increase the speed and keep the quality of the narration intact, He’s not the best at creating female voices, but they are definitely good enough to keep you in the story.

Final Thoughts: What a great series. Three books - all three very good and easy listens. Very character driven. Refreshingly light on technical jargon. Nothing tired or stale here - the only common fare is a few humorous pop culture references that help the reader relate to how much has been lost in such a short time. It also makes true space opera and sci-fi fans feel at home with a welcoming nod or two by way of older characters in the story using jargon from our favorite space opera movies to talk over the heads of young adults born after the occupation.

Where there's a will there's a way !!

Even though the alien race was stronger. Humans were more resilient. Lots of clues along the way in each book. Will the aliens return someday??
Very well written book. Awesome reading by Ray Porter and many voices.

It's fine, but could have been much more

Pros: Narration was spectacular. I love Ray Porter as a narrator. Book one was pretty fun, and the whole series avoided the mistake of trying to increase its relevance by injecting a bunch of completely unnecessary sex or foul language. Everything focused on a pretty good story overall. I appreciated that and will seek out this author in the future for giving me a book series I don't mind sharing with my kids.

Cons: I didn't/couldn't connect well with some of the characters. By boom three there were still a few teir 2 characters I got mixed up. Parts of the story were rushed while other parts struggled to make sense in the larger scheme. To me, some hugely important things just... kind of happened with little detail, and other much less important things were so detailed I struggled just a bit to not skip forward. Overall it was a good, albeit mostly predictable story line of a pretty standard book of this genre.

Decent end to the series but has some issues.

Overall the story was interesting and the ending was more or less satisfying. My issue comes in with some of the political issues the auther decides to throw in. Comparing covid to ebola? Come on
