Publisher's summary

The truth of discovery is on mankind's horizon, a Red Horizon.

For nearly four long years, the world's superpowers have mobilized their people and resources in preparation for the next discovery, Mars.

The race against one another pales in comparison to the inherent dangers of travelling through the vastness of the cosmos, going where mankind has never gone before. Facing the hostile and challenging environment of space, and nations ready to do anything it takes to win, Richard, 'Rock' Crandon pulls his team together in an attempt to reach the alien technology on the red planet first, and discover the intent behind the alien species.

Will mankind tear itself apart in the name of discovery, or will the truth reveal something more sinister, the true intent of the aliens?

not bad

Found the first part a bit boring. The last four or five chapters great
The next book should be good

Strong ending saves the day

I loved the first book and was ecstatic to see this get an audiobook. It wasn’t quite to the level of Lunar Discovery - it took far too long to get going, and the character development felt much more clunky - but the ending was excellent. I look forward to book 3!

A surprising turn to this story!

Like the first volume of this trilogy, this story starts off like a 21st century analog to 2001 space Odyssey, but takes a dramatic and departing turn. The performance and story excellent. I recommend anyone considering this book get the first one in the series first for context, and enjoy!

Enjoyed this book and ordering the third.

I enjoyed this book and ordering the third. Entertaining, plenty of science to keep me interested and a first rate narrator. Looking forward to book #3

I enjoyed this book as I did book number 1

I read book one. I felt it was well written. I enjoyed the story but I felt that the writer should have covered more of the story. This story should be covered by 3 books! The writer is too verbose. Writing too much about what ever. Red Horizon was written the same way and in my opinion the next installment should be able to finish the story. If it does not, I will not buy the next. Writers who use this method of stretching a story need to write books that are 15 plus hours. Salvador Mercer. This story is not worth more then 3 credits!!

Cliffhanger

I got sucked in to this series and it’s really good. This is the middle book, so of course it leaves off on a cliffhanger. Looking forward to the final book and finishing this series.
