Publisher's summary

When both old and new secrets are uncovered at a burial site, the timetable of a madman moves up. Old secrets were buried in the beautiful mountain meadow.

It was Jamie Taylor and her dog's job to uncover them. Trouble was they dug up some new secrets as well. While some families would find closure, others would soon find their lives ripped apart.

Assistant Special Agent in Charge Nicholas Grant becomes embroiled in the case while coming to terms with his own demons.

A madman watches from the distance while officials expose his clandestine playground - his private playground - much sooner than he planned. But with any luck, not soon enough.

Engaging but predictable

The story and the characters are engaging, but not all are believable. There are also some rather gaping holes in the action. I guessed the "bad guy" practically from his introduction and the conclusion was predictable.

Suzan Lynn Lorraine delivered a barely adequate performance. She made little to no distinction between characters and her pacing wasn't up to par.

Nevertheless, the story drew me in and held my attention. This is a series I'll follow.

This was an enjoyable, quick read.

Where does Red Tide rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It was a good story, not convoluted with too many twists and turns that sometimes end up muddling the story line.

What about Suzan Lynn Lorraine’s performance did you like?

She made it simple to tell which character was speaking. Her voice was pleasant to listen to.

Any additional comments?

It was a good book that I will recommend to my friends and family.

Ticks all the boxes including HEA!

http://tbbmaniacs.wixsite.com/reviews/single-post/2017/02/17/Red-Tide-WriterPeg-Brantley-Narrator-Suzan-Lynn-Lorraine

This book ticked all of my boxes including the HEA. The characters are easy to relate to and the story moves at a reasonable pace, keeping the reader guessing.

I am a fan of books with short chapters as it encourages the author to keep the story moving and this one does not disappoint. The characters are well-developed, with each having some of their back-story explained, helping the reader to relate more fully to them. As this is the first in the Aspen Thriller series, I am hoping that some of these characters will appear in future novels as it will be interesting to see how their lives progress. Because I love dogs, I’m always glad to find an author who includes them in their stories. The three who form an integral part of this story, do not disappoint! I do have one question for the author – how does the plane crash fit in? It seems to have no relevance to this story. As an optimist, I hope there will be a link in a future book; however, this loose end needs to be tied.

I listened to the audio version of this book narrated by Suzan Lynn Lorraine. It was refreshing to hear a book narrated (read without using different ‘voices’) rather than performed, however, the lack of character definition does rate a lower score from me.

If you are looking for a mystery / thriller for a lazy Sunday afternoon, this book is for you.

Outstanding...but

Red Tide kept me guessing until the very end. This was a wonderful story with true characters intrigue and real-life emotions. The first book by Peg Brantley I read was The Sacrifice. Red Tide is just as riveting. My only and I do mean only complaint about this book is that the ending is too abrupt. I like the circumstances revealed in the ending but so much more could have been said and revealed about how that ending came about. In my humble opinion too much was left unsaid between the end of the conflict and the final resolution. Other than that it's an amazing book that I will definitely recommend and read again.

Predictable

I received this audiobook for free from the author / narrator / publisher in exchange for an unbiased review.

The story is quite predictable, for a book of suspense genre. The "bad guy is easily identifiable from the very beginning. Thus there wasn't much of a suspense. The story follows a predictable arc and leads to the foregone conclusion.

The narration too wasn't up to par. The narrator didn't put much of an effort in distinguishing different characters.

Good Audible book

Plot good, some surprises, love the dogs and how they work, especially Gretchen. Jamie is my favorite character.
