About this listen

Sheriff Joanna Brady must solve two perplexing cases that may be tied together in New York Times best-selling author J. A. Jance's thrilling tale of suspense that brings to life Arizona's Cochise County and the desert Southwest in all its beauty and mystery.

An old woman, a hoarder, is dying of emphysema in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. In cleaning out her house, her daughter, Liza Machett, discovers a fortune in hundred dollar bills hidden in the tall stacks of books and magazines that crowd every corner.

Tracing the money's origins will take Liza on a journey that will end in Cochise County, where Sheriff Joanna Brady is embroiled in a personal mystery of her own. A man she considers a family friend is found dead at the bottom of a hole in a limestone cavern near Bisbee. And now there is the mystery of Liza and the money. Are the two disparate cases connected? It's up to Joanna to find out.

By far best Audible mystery we have listen to.

By far best Audible mystery we have listen to. My wife and I have both enjoyed this book. The story of two different communities facing murders that independently made no sense. Yet when weaved together piece by piece, character by character, and then finally drawn into one community to fit the puzzle pieces together. Which made it a pleasure to listen to.

Now to find the next Audible book to match this J. A. Jance. Sherrif Joanna Brady 5 Star mystery.

My favorite Joanna Brady Novell

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

this book draws you in to one character that I hope makes a permanent additional to Bisbee.

Another killer story by j.a.jance

I love how this author can carry and deliver successfully multiple storylines in her books. This book showcases that talent quite well. From the start to finish I stayed engaged and curious. Ms. Jance keeps the plot edgy and her characters are well rounded. I read and listen to her books often and am not disappointed. As for the narrator, Hilary Huber I enjoyed her as well. I've listened to several books that Ms Huber has done and liked them too. I hope to listen to more Jance books on my valued kindle , as I know they are worth my investment of both money and time

Terrible Narrator

Where does Remains of Innocence rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It was an interesting storyline but the terrible narration took away from the audio book.

How could the performance have been better?

The narrator could have acted like she was enjoying reading the story. I've heard children with more emotion in their reading than this narrator.

Always good characters

I love the well fleshed-out characters from Janice. This story brought several stories together into one- and it was an excellent weaving of plots. Excellent!

Good mystery, but mature subject matter.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes . If you are sensitive to certain things, maybe not. I am, but it was not too much for me. And it has very LITTLE bad language (thank you J. A. Janice!) No f-bombs, no taking God's name in vain!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Remains of Innocence?

When the reveal comes into play, you'll know what I mean, if you purchase the book.

What about Hillary Huber’s performance did you like?

I've listened to a couple of books by this author now, and could not imagine the sheriff's voice as anyone else, her voice is perfect for the character.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, if time would permit. I like good, long books, that build suspense.

Any additional comments?

This author writes a very special book, IMHO. The books never have gratuitous violence, sex or language, so I will continue to listen until otherwise happens. I have enjoyed every one that I've heard!

Not quite up to her usual

I found the story slightly boring. Found myself drifting off once in a while. I usually really enjoy Joanna Brady novels but this one was a little bit draggy.
