About this listen

Renting out the apartment over his garage shouldn't be a life-changing decision, but when Delta soldier Cormac "Fletch" Fletcher meets Emily Grant, he feels an instant connection. He can't stand the thought of Emily and her young daughter living anywhere unsafe. Offering cheap rent is a small price to pay for their safety...and Fletch's peace of mind.

Being a single mother is difficult at best, but renting the extremely affordable space from Fletch makes Emily's life a lot easier...until it doesn't. Suddenly all the money she's saving thanks to Fletch's generosity is going into the hands of a blackmailer. And what little food Emily can afford goes to her daughter Annie, so the girl doesn't go to bed hungry...leaving Emily weaker and weaker.

When miscommunication has Emily assuming Fletch is in on the blackmail, he not only has to gain her trust, but also deal with a man holding a grudge against Fletch and his entire Delta Force team. A task made more difficult when the dangerous man gets his hands on Emily and Annie.

Rescuing Emily is the second book in the Delta Force Heroes Series. Each book is a stand-alone, with no cliffhanger endings.

Even better the second time!

Susan Stoker is one of my favorite authors. I enjoyed listening this time through and will next listen to Marrying Emily which I have not yet read. I'm captivated by all the characters and the way the stories unfold.

Warm and Fuzzies

Fletch got more than he bargain for with his new tenants. He got a rambunctious but lovable little girl and a sexy as hell woman who brought out his protective side. A series of misunderstandings and one deviant person from Fletch’s past was going to derail their relationship. Thanks God for Annie.

Warm and fuzzies all around.

All that & a bag of chips

Great Light read. It has everything you want/need in a good book. There's chemistry in & out of the bedroom, there's action, danger & times when you're holding your breath hoping "that" doesn't happen. Theres also friends/family which are all fiercely protective & loyal to the bottom of the souls. Then Once you add Alpha male who can be demanding one minute & tender the next & who puts everyone's needs before his own. Then you have all the things you need for a great romance with a happily ever later. So you have everything & a bag of chips.

Entertaining and Exciting!

Fletch decides to rent the apartment over his garage to Emily and her daughter Annie. He is attracted to Emily and Emily is attracted to him. Through serious miscommunication though Emily is blackmailed into paying money to cover a non existent gambling debt of Fletch’s. He thinks the guy is her boyfriend. Emily feels trapped and will do anything to keep Annie safe. The hero of this story is one of the most endearing characters created by Susan Stoker. Annie gets help when her mommy is ill and it sets off a chain of events to correct this great and harmful confusion. Annie steals the hearts of the whole team as they all work together to save Emily. The narrator does a great job bringing the excitement and the love to life for one very entertaining story. Rescuing Emily is well worth listening to. I just enjoyed Annie and know how wonderful it will be to hear her in future stories. Well done Susan Stoker and Stella Bloom!

Pretty good story :)

3.5-4 stars

This was a pretty good story. I liked Emily and Fletch as well as Emily's daughter, Annie.

Emily is a single mother that works in the PX on the local Army base. Emily's daughter, Annie, is a result of a relationship with a military man that left as soon as Emily became pregnant. Emily loves her daughter and does her best for her but they don't have much money and no family to help.

Fletch is a member of the Delta Force and that is his main focus in life. Fletch has a nice home and it has a small apartment over the garage that he decides to rent it out. Fletch has dated some but hasn't found any women that really interested him so he's surprised when Emily comes to see the apartment and he feels a connection.

Emily is looking for a new apartment because there's some real creeps in the apartment building she's in now (including the landlord). She's desperate for something affordable and is cautiously thrilled when Fletch offers to rent the apartment to her for a really good price. Once she moves in, things go well between them as well as between Fletch and Annie. Annie is a smart child and is curious but Fletch likes her quick mind and encourages her.

Things are all going pretty well when the trouble starts. To be honest, while I could understand how the communication mistakes happened that made Emily think Fletch was aware of what was happening, I have a hard time believing that Emily would have stayed and put up with the crap. I do realize there were some threats but it just didn't completely sell me so I found the miscommunication issues to be annoying and was glad when they got resolved. Even once things get straightened out between Fletch and Emily, the bad guy doesn't stop his vendetta but it is in the background for a while, which gives Fletch and Emily time to get closer...much closer. There is some more drama and even some danger but it does get resolved relatively quickly and the story ends with Emily and Fletch (and Annie) together and heading for a HEA.

This was a pretty enjoyable story. I liked Emily overall so I guess that's why I had issues with her putting up with the situation for so long. It just didn't work with what I had seen of her personality so far. But outside of that, I liked Emily fine. Fletch was a really good hero. the misunderstanding wasn't really his fault and he did the best he could with the info he had at the time. Once he knew the whole truth, he made sure to take care of Emily and Annie and handle the issue. Overall, this was a pretty good story with good characters. :)
