About this listen

A boy and his father walk on the shore of an ocean filled with bloody spears cast off from a war between gods.

A father travels back in time over and over, unable to rescue the mother of his child, but then....

A mischievous satyr lurking in a dungeon has a field day with trespassing adventurers.

A mirror sits in the lobby of an ancient palace, and twice a year under the light of the moon you can walk through it to another world. But at what cost?

These tales and more are in Resurrections, a compilation of short stories written by Chris Philbrook, author of Tesser: A Dragon Among Us, Adrian's Undead Diary, and The Kinless Trilogy.

An excellent compilation of short stories!

What did you love best about Resurrections?

I loved to see a glimps of some of the many worlds that live inside the mind of Chris Philbrook. I loved hearing stories with new and different characters, and the stories with familiar and beloves characters.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Resurrections?

I absolutely loved the time travel story. The sacrifice was so heart wrenching.

What does James Anderson Foster bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He has an excellent talent of reading many different characters with out repeating the same voice and without making women sound creepy.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely in fact it kept me wanting more! At the end of most of the shorts I found myself disappointed(that they were over), and wanting for more!

Any additional comments?

Chris Philbrook has a way of writing that will suck you in and keep you wanting more the stories in Resurrections are no exception!

What a fun collection of shorts!

I gave the book 5 stars and almost all of the stories were 4/5 star reads. If you read a lot by Chris then you can tell that some were written recently and others were older - it was cool to see how his writting has progressed over the years. I really enjoyed getting the back stories on all of them, makes me feel like I'm part of the Ring Family!

I can honestly say this really shows the amazing range of talent Chris Philbrook has. From aliens to zombies to goblins to knights to time travel...this collection has it all. I laughed, was grossed out, was scared and I cried my eyes out... what more can you ask for in one collection?? Resurrections is truly an enjoying, must read adventure!

Resurrections has a variety of themes!

I liked the variety of stories. As a fan of Adriens Undead Diary , I was pleased there was stories from the AUD world. I was also pleased with the other stories and their varying themes. Hair of the dog was a favorite. The narrator James Foster did an excellent job. I listened to this book over a 2 day period. I would recommend this to anyone looking for short stories with sci fi , vampires , werewolves , or mystical interests.

Loved it!

Love the extended short stories of the existing universes. Especially the Goblin side story to Ambryn. Broke my fiance's Audio Book Cherry with this one on a road trip. Figured with the short stories we could easily stop if she wanted. We both enjoyed it very much! Thanks again for the hours of fun!

Time Travel & Zombies...and a lot more

I came for the addition to the AUD world/rules- which was great-always is. What shocked me is how much I enjoyed everything else. Chris Philbrook is a fantastic writer- so don't misinterpret "shocked", but I'm not typically a fantasy lover and have only read bits of his other series...so I thought I wouldn't connect as thoroughly- but I did. In fact, my favorite story was the fixed time line time travel story. I could have read an entire book on that concept- loved it.

Key takeaway...entertaining stories that you don't have to have devious knowledge of anything to enjoy...but there are definitely special nods to those die hard fans across the board.

Oh, and James Anderson Foster's comforting voice is flawless as per usual.

Philbrook has done it again!!!

What did you like best about this story?

This is a collection of a bunch of short stories. I love it and hate it at the same time. What I mean is Philbrook sucks you to a story quickly and I love that part. I hate the part where it ends and he always leaving you wanting more of that story line. Then the next adventure starts and the roller coaster starts all over again.

What about James Anderson Foster’s performance did you like?

James Foster is a true master. He nails all the characters and his cadence makes you feel the story. You feel what the character feel.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There was so many great parts of the different stories, but my favorite is where my friend was used for a story in a series that I love. Nahuel you are the man!

Awesome!

I reviewed this once before for the Kindle version and my opinion still hasn't changed. If you've read Chris' work there is plenty for you to enjoy. If you're unfamiliar with his work, I hope you'll enjoy it just the same.

My two favorite stories from before were Yerba Mate and Steve Goes to the City. While still favorites, I feel it would be a disservice to leave out What Would You Do?, The Sea of Spears and Scars.

I also feel it would be a disservice to not mention the wonderful work of James Foster. I've been a big fan of his since I started listening to Audio Books and he didn't disappoint me with his narration.
