About this listen

Revived is a standalone, contemporary romance novel from the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today best-selling author of Revved.

India Harris didn't have the best start in life. Abandoned as a baby, she and her twin brother, Kit, spent their lives in foster care, only having each other to rely on. Then, at a young age, a relationship with the wrong man left India pregnant. Wanting to give her son the life she never had, she put herself through school and graduated with honors. Now, at the age of 30, she's a highly respected therapist.

At the top of his game as a Formula One driver, Leandro Silva had everything - until an accident on the track left him staring death in the face. After enduring 12 months of physical therapy, Leandro is now physically able to race, but his mind is keeping him from the track. Frustrated and angry, Leandro's days and nights are filled with limitless alcohol and faceless women. Entering the last year of his contract, he knows he has to race again, or he'll lose everything he spent his life working for. Forced into therapy to get his life back, Leandro finds himself in the office of Dr. India Harris.

Falling for his uptight therapist is not part of Leandro's plan. Having unethical feelings for her patient, the angry Brazilian race car driver, is not part of India's plan. But what if the wrong person is the only person who is right?

Revived follows a character that was previously introduced in the novel Revved, but you do not need to listen to Revved beforehand, as Revived is its own story and is a complete standalone novel.

Story interesting; narrators not so much

The female was fine when reading the main female part, but ridiculous when she tried doing a Spanish accent. Made it through despite mediocre performances. Enjoy S. Towle's books!

Sad about narration.

Difficult to discuss the story because (for me) the narration was... not great.

I couldn't tell who was what nationality and when 😐

Follow up to Revved, not the winner but 2nd place

What did you like best about Revived? What did you like least?

This story line was more mature between the Leandro and India as apposed to Carrick and Andressa's in Revved.Ricky Pessoa's "Leandro" was spot on, a 4 star performance, you could "feel" his passion, lust, and love in his voice and words. His "India" voice needed a bit of work so the subtle Latino inflections would not be heard. Also "Carrick" was missing his Irish lilt, something that I came to enjoy in the first book of this series. Full well realizing this is make-believe, I still can't buy that a true medical professional would do harm to their career, especially one they worked so hard to achieve. But, that story line did injected angst and love into the book. Also, I was turned off by Kitty Silver's narration, giving her reading 1 1/2 stars. Her voice was "girl-like", but the character was a 30 year old mature woman. Her "Leandro" voice was WAY OFF!, in fact just awful.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

A bit abrupt, rushed. Just the mention of her brother Kit in a relationship with a character from the first book was out of nowhere. It felt like a throw in, because at no time was there ever a sentence, paragraph or partial chapter about his budding romance any other place in the book. The relationship between Leandro and India's son was a bit rushed also. A few times at a karting track doesn't translate into "he is my son" in the real world. But, then again, this is not reality is it.

Would you be willing to try another one of Kitty Silver and Ricky Pessoa ’s performances?

By Mr. Pessoa, yes - but work on losing the Latino accent in other English, Irish, characters.Ms. Silver - probably not.
Overall average of this narration would probably be 2.5 stars, mostly due to the female lead having more to read than the male character, or at least it seemed like I heard more of Ms.Silver's voice than I wanted. I actually found myself turning off the narration and skimming her parts and then listening to Mr. Pessoa's parts.

Goodish

I was entertained and engaged with the story and characters. The romance itself was flawed and realistic. That is not my favorite type of story so I didn't enjoy this series as well as others I've read.

Ok

I think I would have enjoyed more with better performances. Narrators not that good. They make or break a story
