About this listen

Many companies are stuck with digital transformations that are not moving the needle. There are no quick fixes but there is a playbook. The answer is in rewiring your business so hundreds, thousands, of teams can harness technology to continuously create great customer experiences, lower unit costs, and generate value. It's the capabilities of the organization that win the race.

McKinsey Digital's top leaders Eric Lamarre, Kate Smaje, and Rodney W. Zemmel provide proven how-to details on what it takes in six comprehensive sections—creating the transformation roadmap, building a talent bench, adopting a new operating model, producing a distributed technology environment so teams can innovate, embedding data everywhere, and unlocking user adoption and enterprise scaling.

Tested, iterated, reworked, and tested again over the years, McKinsey's digital and AI transformation playbook is captured in Rewired. It contains diagnostic assessments, operating model designs, technology and data architecture diagrams, how-to checklists, best practices and detailed implementation methods, all exemplified with demonstrated case studies and illustrated with 100+ exhibits.

Buzzword Haven

Very broad scoped book lots and lots of focus areas. It will take two or three lessons for me to capture it all. I’ll definitely want to check out the PDF to reference those materials as well overall and review and re-review.

Comprehensive and structured methodology for approaching digital transformation

The book provides a comprehensive approach to achieving digital transformation. It’s not so much how to do it. It’s how to structure the approach and what to consider. I think it provides excellent knowledge. Anyone engaged in a digital transformation should read it

A set of generic statements

I did not find this book particularly insightful. It contains a set of generically useful statements that anyone with some degree of relevant experience would know anyway.
May be a good book to kick off an executive offsite that focuses on digital transformation of a very traditional company.
But probably not very useful for a serious professional.

Boring if you are in IT industry

The book might be interesting for a non-IT company that wants to digitalize, but not a well-established IT business

Complete theoretical nonsense

This ok shows that McKinsey is still all talk and no practical experience. If they would’ve talked any practical aspect that would have made a difference

A Surface-Level Read Suited for Novices

This book leaves much to be desired, especially for seasoned professionals or executives seeking to delve into nuanced discussions. It caters more to a junior or student audience, providing a high-level overview of its subject matter without venturing into any profound or insightful analysis. The topics covered mostly tread on well-worn paths, offering little to no new perspectives. Furthermore, the narrative lacks engagement, making the reading experience quite dull. While it may serve as a stepping stone for those new to the field, it falls short in delivering engaging or insightful content for a more discerning audience.
