About this listen

Use your mind's natural rhythm to learn a language with Rhythms Easy Scottish Gaelic from EuroTalk.

It's naturally easier to learn something when it's set to rhythmic music, so that is exactly what we've done. Rhythms put your mind painlessly to work: you don't even need to focus! Simple words and phrases are set to a varied pattern of rhythms and music designed to help you learn and to keep you engaged, so that you won't just switch off after five minutes. It won't get you fluent, but it will give you an easy road into starting to learn a completely new language.

If you just want a few simple words and phrases before going abroad, Rhythms is all you need. It covers absolute essentials, such as how to greet people, basic directions, getting around, food and drink. You'll hear Scottish Gaelic spoken by both a male and a female native speaker and there will be plenty of opportunity for you to test how well you're doing with the review stages built in at key points in each track.

Rhythms can be used anytime, anywhere - listen in the car or on the train, walking the dog, doing housework or exercising at the gym. Absorbing a language couldn't be easier, and EuroTalk Rhythms has over 120 different languages to choose from.

Too easy AND too hard

Too many of the words here are a waste of time because they’re basically the same as in English. Car, bicycle, taxi etc sound just like in English, so it’s pointless to “practice” them.

On the other hand, trying to learn long phrases and entire sentences this way is pretty much impossible.

Also, some words were pronounced quite differently by the different voice actors, which is confusing and needs explanation.

Good, but could be better

Overall, I enjoyed listening to this. However, I think it would work better for a non-English speaker. I was hoping for phrases to use while traveling, and there are only a couple here. The words bus, car, coffee, tea, ect. sound the same in English as they do Scots, and repeating each four times got to be somewhat tiresome. I've also yet to need the word "onion" while traveling, but it appears here. Still, not too much cash laid out and it does include numbers and directionals, something most basic programs don't cover.

Helpful

This was helpful. Just wish the longer phrases were said more slowly so as to help beginners really hear each word of the phrase.

Don’t waste your time

This book was so bad I find it hard to write a review, repeating words that are pronounced differently each time with no explanation or reasoning, made this a completely useless waste of time.
