About this listen

Addie

Sunny Burke is the all-American life of the party. The golden boy everybody loves, a talented cowboy, and the man who warms my bed at night.

In rodeo circles, they call Kai Hunt "Frost" because of his determination to win and his icy exterior. He's never made it a secret he can't stand his best friend's girl. Aka, me.

Then the three of us got into a car, and everything changed.

Because only two left it alive.

In the aftermath, I slink back home to my little country town to lick my wounds. Yet fate has other plans. When a job offer rolls in, the assignment is simple. Tour the US on the pro bull-riding tour. Write down the riders' secrets, and then share them with the world in a weekly gossip column.

But how can I go, when he'll be there? The man who's avoided me ever since the accident. He's made it clear how he feels about me, and what happened that night.

What does it matter if his gaze sets my body on fire?

What does it matter if my heart screams that he's it? He's the one.

It doesn't.

Not when there's more than just the ghosts of that night keeping us apart.

Secrets, racial tensions, and heart-stopping action explode in this black woman-white man interracial romance. High angst and super sexy scenes make Ride Dirty, Cowboy an unmissable addition to Elle Thorpe's Dirty Cowboy series. This book can be listened to as a stand-alone and contains a happily ever after.

Substance

Unusual dealing with the topic of race in a sports world that probably has more than its share. More substance than I expected.
I really wasn't a fan of the FMC. Maybe that's due to the first book's introduction of her character. Kind of creepy as she appears at night at Bowen's house for an unsolicited sexy time.
Kai on the other hand is awesome.
Narration by the male in this production was not great when he attempted the Australian accent. Even his American country accent per Brad in the story was sad. Kind of detracts from the story.

Slow but worth it

This is the first book I’ve read with a Black FMC and Caucasian MMC. I’m glad to know Elle took the leap to put this out there. I wish more authors would do the same.
The accuracy in the story and plot was a plus. It took time to build it, so the reader could follow. Making the FMC an aboriginal woman though, and basing everything in the United States, was a stretch. She made it work for the story.
As much as I love Tor Thom, his voice was not right for this character, however it didn’t put me off. I still finished and I’m glad I did.
I’d love to see more like this. Those with closed minds will not like or finish this book.

DO NOT WASTE A CREDIT!

I picked this book coming off the high of a different series by this same author. That series was great, 4.5 out of 5 stars. So imagine my disappointment with this title. The pace is slow and tedious. The plot is contrived and sucky. I felt nothing for the characters. I desperately want my credit back. The narrator's were the best thing about this selection and they were underwhelming, probably due to the material with which they had to work. BOO HISS!
