Road to Savannah is book two in the Made in Savannah Cozy Mysteries Series

Bonus: Recipe included!

Carlita Garlucci has sold everything she owns and left the only home she has ever known to move to historic Savannah, Georgia. Her daughter, Mercedes, is moving with her, and the women are both excited and nervous about this new chapter in their lives, having always lived under the shadow of the men in the family.

The repairs to their inherited properties are moving along nicely and everything seems to be falling into place, everything that is, except for the body they discover inside one of the buildings, the dilapidated restaurant.

Despite the fact that the Garlucci family was not even in Savannah at the time the victim was murdered, they can't prove it. On top of that, the victim, a member of Savannah Architectural Society - also known as "SAS" - had been sent to the property to discuss possible construction violations.

The other members of SAS are convinced the Garlucci family murdered one of their own while Carlita is convinced that someone is trying to frame them.

Can the mother / daughter duo figure out who the real killer is, or will the police dig into Carlita's past and discover that she has her own share of secrets she's trying desperately to leave behind?

Fun Read

I received a free copy of Road to Savannah: Made in Savannah Cozy Mysteries Series, Book 2 written by Hope Callaghan, and narrated by Valerie Gilbert in exchange for an unbiased review. This review copy Audio Book was provided by the author/narrator/publisher free of charge via Audio Book Boom.

I found Road to Savannah to be a great addition to this series. The story is a fun light mystery with Mom and daughter starting a new life in Savannah. Oh they're starting their new life selling gems acquired by the Mob. I can't wait to read the rest of this series.

Valerie Gilbert did a wonderful job narrating and with keeping the story flowing.

Book 2

I love books by Hope Callaghan and I wasn't disappointed in an audiobook by Hope. This was a fun way to pass the time on a long car trip. The story was attention holding and the different voices made it entertaining. Book 2 was a stand alone but made me want to get book 1 and 3. I thought the New York mafia in Georgia was humorous. The narrator was easy to understand and had a voice that was pleasant to listen to.

Great Book!

This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. The story flowed very well and was very enjoyable. This book will keep you reading long into the night and you will not want to put this book down until you finish. This was such a great read and full of surprises. The narrator did a wonderful job with this book. She did a great job with the different voices of each character in this book. It was very easy to listen to and I didn’t want to stop listening until the end. If you are looking for a great book with well-developed characters then you need to listen to this book. I am looking forward to listening to the next book by this author and narrator.

Another Great Audible!!!

I am in love with the Made in Savannah series by Hope. I'm not sure where Hope found Valerie, but she is the best narrator ever!!! I have listened to several books on CD or audible's and after listening to them, I really don't know what's happening but for some reason I can follow this book from start to finish.

Road to Savannah picks up right after Key to Savannah. We have Mercedes, Carlita and her oldest son Vinnie heading down to Savannah to start their new lives. Of course nothing can be easy for these ladies and when they take a look at their new digs, they find a body. This book has so many suspects, twist and turns you just don't know who the murderer is until the very end.

Hope, what an amazing book and Valerie as always, the characters voices are spot on. I don't know how you do it but it flows so naturally that I would think you're a Southern Italian woman.

Another great story in this series!

This is the second story I've listened to by this author. Love this series so far. I listened to the audiobook version and felt this was a great story, with a great narrator. TBH, Valerie Gilbert is my #1 favorite narrator, and I would recommend her to anyone and everyone interested in audiobooks.

Similar to book one, this was a cute, fast-paced story that kept me entertained/interested the entire time. I'm definitely interested in listening/reading other stories by this author. On to book 3.

Good Book

Again, this book was great listening while mowing my lawn. It made time fly while doing a monotonous job. The characters are developing nicely, and the narrator nails the accents.

A delightful cozy mystery

Carlita and her daughter, Mercedes, make it to Savannah from Queens, with Carlita's son Vinnie following behind, in Hope Callaghan's Road to Savannah. As soon as they arrive, Mercedes's new friend, Autumn, shows up to greet them. Autumn mentions that the door to the restaurant on the old property that they are renovating was ajar, but she closed it. Concerned that the squatter who was occupying their property may have moved to the restaurant, they investigate, only to find the body of a strangled woman there. When the police arrive, they learn that the murdered woman was Norma Jean Cleaver, a key member of the locally-dreaded SAS, the Savannah Architectural Society, which ostensibly exists to improve the city but really seems to exist to harass business owners who don't conform to their own vision of the city. As they face suspicion over their involvement in the murder and fight with the SAS over opening their new businesses, Carlita and Mercedes decide they need to get to the bottom of the crime, or their lives will be uprooted.

This book is a great sequel to Key to Savannah, engaging me throughout the book. It is relatively short, only four and a half hours on audio, but it contains a fun listening experience. I enjoyed the depictions of Savannah through the eyes of the native New Yorkers who have just moved to the city. The book also has a fun scene where Autumn teaches Mercedes how to ride a Segway.

Valerie Gilbert's performance comes across as stalwart as in the first book. She uses great accents and believable voices for the characters. With her terrific performance, I can't imagine this book with any other narrator.

I really enjoyed Road to Savannah. It has a fun plot that is light but interesting. It also has a recipe for Italian stuffed shells at the end that sounds amazing! Most books with recipes feature baked items, so it is refreshing to get a recipe for a main dish. This is the perfect book for when you don't feel like having to focus too closely on the details but want some release from life and enjoyment. I give it five stars!

Safe entertaining read

Enjoyed the Characters and the descriptions of places . I like the relational interactions. This was a fun book without anything disturbing, an enjoyable read. The murder mystery is kind of a side line. No danger or stressful suspense. Very pleasant. Excellent professional narrator. Pleasant voice. Characters are very easy to distinguish. Accents sounded authentic and flowed easily.
