I rescued her because I had to. I fell in love with her because she gave me no choice.

Roman Costas: Powerful. Intensely private. Cold. Dangerous.

When he unwittingly puts an innocent woman in danger, he does something he never planned. Becomes involved. He didn’t anticipate the feelings Effie Warner brought out in him. He didn’t expect the woman he rescued to become his world. All he knows is that he’ll burn down the city to keep her safe. No matter the consequences.

The suspenseful finale in Men of the Falls duet by New York Times Bestselling author Melanie Moreland.

Billionaire Mafia

Roman is a wealthy businessman who is busy 24/7. He owns hotels and casinos in Canada. He finds out someone stole 50k from his casino and once he finds her he demands the money back, with interest. She offers up her virgin sister instead of interest. Roman is disgusted and denies her offer.

Driving to meet up with his brother for dinner, he pasts the bakery of the woman’s sister who stole from him. He stops randomly and gets a bagel. Meeting that woman’s sister, Effie, he instantly feels a pull to her. He comes back the following day and gives her his card. Effie’s confused but knows her half sister is in with dangerous people so she takes it She doesn’t know if Roman is a good man or a bad one but the pull she feels for him, she knows she should keep the card.

Effie is always giving her sister money to help her get out of bad situations. When her sister demands 70k to be free, Effie denies her. She doesn’t have the money. That night her sister pounds on her door, when Effie opens up, she gets attacked. Beaten and tied up in an underground room by her sister and the bad men she is connected with. Roman’s card has a tracker in it and it goes off. He ends up showing up and saving Effie.

Roman states he needs her to be with him and his Casino for Effie’s safety. She knows he’s powerful and he will protect her from her sister and whoever is trying to get money from her sister’s scams! Over time, Roman suggests they marry. If they do, Effie instantly has a protection due to his name and his power. He reminds her he won’t love her but will give her money, safety and a family if she wanted.

Swoony Romantic Suspense

Roman Costas was raised to be a leader. His father tried to drill the humanity out of him and his brother and although he wasn’t successful, Roman was left with a skewed vision of himself.

“Men like me don’t love.”

When Roman inadvertently puts Effie in the line of danger, he jumps in to rescue and keep her safe.

“He took. He ordered. He commanded, and he got what he wanted.”

Effie is strong, smart and beautiful. She doesn’t want to settle, she wants a real love and a full life and has to convince Roman that he can have it all too. I listened to most of this on audiobook and loved the narration!!

Canadian Mafia is here!

Aldo and Roman are both live now- and if you’ve not met the Canadian mafia you better buckle up, because these men are dark and dreamy. Two stories, two Canadian morally grey mafiosos, and ALL of that Melanie Moreland magic. The tension, the suspense, the twists, the CHEMISTRY. These two books were addictive- and Melanie knows how to write the most mesmerizing alpha, possessive, protective leading men who are brought to their knees ONLY by the fiery woman that capture their hearts. I love Melanie men, and I loved this world. With a bit of suspense to parallel the romance, these both were fast-paced, and the audios were both amazingly performed.

Gripping and entertaining

I could not wait to read Roman after the ending of Aldo. It was everything I was expecting and so much more.

I don’t normally gravitate to stories where characters are morally grey, but Melanie Moreland’s writing is so compelling that I knew I had to read these books.

Roman Costas co owns The Maple, an elite Casino and hotel in Niagara Falls with his brother Luca. He is a man who knows what he wants and has no hesitation in going after it, no matter the consequences, whether it be on the right or wrong side of the law.

When his actions inadvertently put Effie Warner in danger, he knows he will do whatever is necessary to keep her safe. Roman is such an arrogant, stubborn man but underneath is a man who cares deeply.

I loved these characters, there is so much more to Roman than the man he shows the world and Effie sees beneath the surface. She can give as good as she gets and isn’t afraid to stand up for herself.

The performances by Maxine Mitchell and John Lane were wonderful. Their voices are easy to listen to and they did justice to the characters and the story Ms. Moreland wove. They brought out the passion, danger and emotions that Roman and Effie went through and I was riveted to their performances.

Roman is a well written, emotional, romantic suspense story that is fast paced and will draw you in and hold you captive until the last word is read.

Superb!!

Giving this audiobook 5 stars does not even come close to telling the listeners how phenomenal this audiobook was. From the opening to the very end the listener is taken on another Melanie Moreland ride that is filled a beautifully written story, filled with characters that we will all fall in love with and then add in just the right amount of spark and angst to keep us all on our toes. Ms. Moreland has a knack for sucking the listener in and not letting them go. John Lane and Maxine Mitchell were outstanding!! This series will be one that will be listened to again and again. Superb!!

Roman ~ Effie

Roman and Effie’s story is full of ups and downs, laugh-out-loud moments, and one fiercely protective hero.

Roman has always been well respected and revered. He is happy with his life the way it is until Effie is thrown into the mix and turns his entire world upside down.

Roman and Effie’s journey starts unconventionally and slowly grows from there into something genuine and loving. I love the banter between everyone and watching Roman, this big powerful man, become so thrown off-kilter while he falls for and becomes supremely protective of Effie, is so much fun. I also love the found family dynamics with Roman, Aldo, Nona V and the rest of their family.

🎧 John Lane and Maxine Mitchell did a fantastic job, yet again, bringing the whole story and characters to life. These two narrators are perfect together.

Roman and Effie are amazing

Roman and Effie, what a couple. I love this side of Melanie’s world, a little more dark but not so dark. Roman so serious, protective of his family and focus on his business. Then Effie came to his life and changed everything, everything. He lost his mind for her, started to have feelings for someone not family, is a little overprotective because he didn’t know how to handle the attraction. I love how Aldo teasing him in every chance he gets. And specially the humming song lol. I love it so much. I love the connection between Effie and Vi. All the twists and turns are just perfect. The audiobook was freaking perfect. Th performance amazing and the narrators did an excellent job. I love this story and want more books like this one from Melanie, please and thank you.

Men Of The Falls is at it again!

Roman has intrigued me since I met him in Aldo, he stole the show in that book, and I was so excited to finally meet him! Roman is cold and private, only cares about the people that he loves (not in a romantic way) which is his family. He doesn't believe in love and happy ending, with the way he was brought up by his father who pitted him against his brother Luca. He sees his brother and his best friend settled down with the love of their life, but doesn’t think that will happen for him. Until he met Effie who ignited his protective and possessive side, so strong that he is not willing to let her go. The way this man takes care of his woman, my lawdddd, he just turned into a marshmallow, I mean he hand-fed her and offered her everything, including his name and protection. Though he’s adamant that he can’t give his heart, we know that Effie already owned it from the moment he laid his eyes on her. And don’t forget how he is such a Nonna’s boy, who doesn’t love a grown-ass ruthless man who adores and listens to his grandma? Adorable!

Effie may look meek and weak at first sight, but she’s such an accomplished businesswoman, unlike her gambling addict sister, she took her inheritance and invested it into a good business. She’s also not afraid to stand up to Roman, and demand what she deserves, I adore these two together! Love to see more of Aldo and Vi here, also Nonna V, can’t get enough of this beautiful found family they created in this dangerous world. I love this duet so much, it’s different from what we usually get from Ms. Moreland, and I’m all for it. I would love to see more books in this world, and highly recommend this if you are new to mafia romance!

Another stellar performance by John and Maxine! I love every part where John had to voice Nonna V and he spoke with a very adorable Italian accent. Maxine did such a good job portraying Effie and differentiating Vi and Marianne's voice, she did so well! I already love the book, and revisiting this story with audio was just wonderful, I thoroughly enjoyed my time listening to this. Highly recommend!

✿ Thank you to Melanie Moreland for the code, this is my honest opinion ✿

Pretty good!

I really like the whole storyline of this one. There are actually several twists and turns along the way, which is great! The narrators do a fantastic job too. I won’t lie though, there is definitely a little bit of cheesy dialogue, it can either add to or take away from things, it could really go either way here. This is the second book in the series (a duet I think) and I did listen to the first one. Both are pretty good and worth a listen.
