About this listen

Criminal lawyer Marta Richter is hours away from winning an acquittal for her client, millionaire businessman Elliot Steere, on trial for the murder of a homeless man who tried to carjack him. But as the jury begins deliberations, Marta discovers the chilling truth about her client's innocence.

Taking justice into her own hands, she furiously sets out to prove the truth, with the help of two young associates. In an excruciating game of beat the clock with both the jury and the worst blizzard to hit Philadelphia in decades, Marta will learn that the search for justice isn't only rough - it can also be deadly.

She is horrible, I am sorry but the exasperated breathy inhaling was sooooo dam distracting I could not focused on story-very upset- could not even finish book!!!!!!!!

Everything was great except the pauses between chapters was too long. I kept thinking my device was malfunctioning.

Great but the chapter breaks

I'm not sure why such a different style narration for this book. Mary DeNunzio's character is portrayed as whiny, not that bright, and incompetent. That's not her at all in the other books so far. Also, the narrator was, in my opinion, not a good choice to narrate this book. Her style and voice just don't work. When she mimics a car horn, I want to scream!!! I hope the rest don't use this same performer to narrate.

Would you listen to Rough Justice again? Why?

Yes, but the narrator paused so long between chapters I thought something was wrong with my phone. This happened multiple times.

What did you like best about Rough Justice? What did you like least?

I liked all the characters and suspense. I didn't like how several different things were happening all at once when changing chapters.

What did you like best about this story?

The last hour or so I enjoyed the most, I couldn't stop listening to it!

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

I do not think so. The pause between chapters really bothered me, I thought I lost connection or something! The quietness was uncomfortable to me.

Did Rough Justice inspire you to do anything?

Not really, except know that the truth is the best at all times! It made you think about juries in general and what really goes on!

Any additional comments?

The story would have been much better without the cuss words. They were unnecessary.

Too many cuss words

Good story but the narrator makes too many mouth noises. Breathy, moist noise. Too many pauses. I feel like this would have been best read vs. audiobook.
The narration is maddening

Breathy and slow narration

Witty story.
Narrator did a great job acting, switching genders….
I will be watching out for more by this Narrator.

Language is repetitive and of poor quality. The story is hard to follow because each chapter deals with a different time line.

It’s rough alright

Probably my least favorite Lisa Scottoline book. Lawyers have an ethical obligation to represent clients, even if they’re guilty assholes, even if they dislike their clients. I’m not interested in lawyers trying to bring their clients down.

Not my favorite
