About this listen

A gripping apocalyptic thriller about a man and his family running for their lives in an America gone mad—from the New York Times bestselling author of Dark Matter and Recursion

No time to think. No time to ask why. Only time to run.

Five days ago, the epidemic of rage began.

Four days ago, the rash of senseless murders swept the nation.

Three days ago, the president addressed the country and begged for peace—even as the murders increased tenfold.

Two days ago, the killers began to mobilize.

One day ago, the power went out.

And tonight, the killers are reading the names of those to be killed over the Emergency Broadcast System.

Jack Colclough is listening over the battery-powered radio on his kitchen table in Albuquerque, and he just heard his name. People are coming to his house to kill him, his wife, his daughter, and his son.

He has no idea what’s happening, or why, but the time for questions is long past.

His only chance is to run.

Following an ordinary family on a desperate race through an America that’s destroying itself, Run is a terrifying, brutally stripped-down thriller from master storyteller Blake Crouch.

Another winner!

Blake Crouch has done it again. I am sure this will make its way to the big screen. It’s riveting. A thriller from start to finish. Sad and scary, but also hopeful. It will make you think about the things that really matter in life. Great read/listen!!!

Not at the Dark Matters level for sure

Just a survival story with gore fest. Nothing memorable. Similar to Recursion, this one is forgetable.

Adrenaline, Lacking Perspective

Blake Crouch knows how to write and he writes well and with this new novel he has written what feels like an adrenaline rush from start to finish following apocalyptic events.

The challenge with this book, or what’s lacking, is a sense of perspective: we never know in any real depth of what caused the events. We don’t get any background necessarily except for dribs and drabs here and there. So you can piece something together.

But with the amount of action energy that this book has, it could benefit from a break or two with a chapter or part, it takes a deeper dive into the causes of this event.

That being what it is, i like the family, i want them to come together, and i hope for the best as they face these challenges as together.

keeps you engaged the whole time.

I've enjoyed this authors other works and this one didn't disappoint. It was a bit dark and gritty but I enjoyed it entirely.

Torture Porn

I love Blake Crouch, I often say he’s one of my favorite modern sci fi authors. This was so hard to get through. It was so graphic in its horror and violence, and to seemingly no end. I appreciate the themes of family above all else, perseverance, etc, but this was a struggle to listen to. The premise was not compelling enough to justify the horror.

Ultra violent

A great listen if you want an intense anxious Page Turner to keep you distracted from work or a long drive

Unsatisfying

I like Blake Crouch but this one was far from his best. Manic pace bordering on masochism. The entire book seems like it’s leading up to a payoff that never comes

Sometimes I shop at dollar general too

It’s like The Road if it were written for network tv instead of a prestige series.

Terrible storytelling.

Not sure where to start. This dude - narrator-emphasizes points that should be subtle
and soft and glazes over points of distress. If I wasn’t a Crouch fan I’d have bailed after 30mins.

Tried and true Crouch storytelling, just slightly rushed

All of elements that make Crouch one of my favorite authors. Solid read overall but just seems slightly rushed in detail.
