About this listen

A gripping apocalyptic thriller about a man and his family running for their lives in an America gone mad—from the New York Times bestselling author of Dark Matter and Recursion

No time to think. No time to ask why. Only time to run.

Five days ago, the epidemic of rage began.

Four days ago, the rash of senseless murders swept the nation.

Three days ago, the president addressed the country and begged for peace—even as the murders increased tenfold.

Two days ago, the killers began to mobilize.

One day ago, the power went out.

And tonight, the killers are reading the names of those to be killed over the Emergency Broadcast System.

Jack Colclough is listening over the battery-powered radio on his kitchen table in Albuquerque, and he just heard his name. People are coming to his house to kill him, his wife, his daughter, and his son.

He has no idea what’s happening, or why, but the time for questions is long past.

His only chance is to run.

Following an ordinary family on a desperate race through an America that’s destroying itself, Run is a terrifying, brutally stripped-down thriller from master storyteller Blake Crouch.

Torture Porn

I love Blake Crouch, I often say he’s one of my favorite modern sci fi authors. This was so hard to get through. It was so graphic in its horror and violence, and to seemingly no end. I appreciate the themes of family above all else, perseverance, etc, but this was a struggle to listen to. The premise was not compelling enough to justify the horror.

Ultra violent

A great listen if you want an intense anxious Page Turner to keep you distracted from work or a long drive

Unsatisfying

I like Blake Crouch but this one was far from his best. Manic pace bordering on masochism. The entire book seems like it’s leading up to a payoff that never comes

Sometimes I shop at dollar general too

It’s like The Road if it were written for network tv instead of a prestige series.

Wow

I absolutely love this author. The concepts, the anticipation of what will happen keeps you hooked!

Terrible storytelling.

Not sure where to start. This dude - narrator-emphasizes points that should be subtle
and soft and glazes over points of distress. If I wasn’t a Crouch fan I’d have bailed after 30mins.

Tried and true Crouch storytelling, just slightly rushed

All of elements that make Crouch one of my favorite authors. Solid read overall but just seems slightly rushed in detail.

Non-Stop Thriller

Excellent listen. I think Scott Brick (the narrator) is the best in the business. The story was compelling and had me on edge the entire time. I was frustrated by some of the decisions that some of the characters made, but when you add in hunger, sleep deprivation, and an extreme amount of stress, people sometimes made bad decisions. Also there were a fair amount of "coincidences". That being said, it was still a great listen.

YES, there is gore. YES, there are items that will make you cringe. This book does not pull any punches. DEFINITELY not something you can listen to with kids in the car. Still, a great listen and I recommend it.

Couldn't stop listening

Fast paced, well written, keeps you on the edge of your seat. From the first word to the last, you are hanging on hoping for this family to survive.

Non stop

Narrator almost ruins the book, speed him up then its not so bad, Later realized it was not a new novel from Crouch, just a re-release under a different publisher.
