About this listen

Two deaths - one psychological, one real. Against her will, Logan is thrown smack dab in the middle of both and can't escape either.

During the first vacation she's taken in years, Logan looks forward to sharing the beauty of the Oregon coast with Ben and her family. They quickly immerse themselves in summer fun - ocean walks, caramel corn by the fire, a visit to the aquarium, a charter boat fishing trip, and to top it all off, tickets for Logan and Ben to an amazing, intimate classical music concert featuring a pair of visiting musicians from China.

But within days, Logan finds herself inexorably drawn into a homicide investigation - as a possible suspect. While she reels from that discovery, Logan is forced to face a ghost from her past and make a thorny, personal decision that will change everyone's lives, including her brother Rick's.

Weaving themes of loss, forgiveness, family, love, and community, Davisson's characters all seek a safe harbor, but not all of them find one.

If you enjoy character-driven novels with a strong sense of place, like J. A. Jance, C. J. Box, Louise Penny, Elly Griffiths, and Alexander McCall Smith, you will love getting to know Logan McKenna.

Edge of your seat adventure

Like the previous 4 books in this series, this book will keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. A great series that can also hold its own as a single book. You can start anywhere in the series, but each book will make you want to read them all. Worth every minute it takes to read or listen.

Intrigue. Kept me on the edge of my seat.

This book was so good. I don't normally read books with a mystery or killer complex involved, but this book was really good. The narrator really brought the story to life. The writing was great and kept me on my toes at all times.

awesome story

This is the fifth book in this series which I enjoyed listening to. This is an easy, engaging story to listen to. The narrator’s voice made the story fun and entertaining. It was easy to listen to and understand. It has twists and turns that keep you wanting to know what will happen next. Logan makes a great character and always finds herself in the middle of something. In this story she finds herself in the middle of two murders. Things turn and safe harbor is needed but will they all find it? Will someone be left out? I really enjoyed listening to this story. I highly recommend this audio.

Mystery on the Oregon coast

Safe Harbor (A Logan McKenna Mystery Book 5) by Valerie Davisson is a crime novel that I got sucked into right away. I love finding a great mystery full of suspense and intrigue. First of all, Logan McKenna’s mother shows up at Logan’s home out of nowhere with no explanation. Soon after her mother showing up, Logan heads out on a much needed vacation with her family to Oregon’s Pacific coast. All of a sudden this vacation to relax and enjoy time with family turns into Logan finding herself as one of the suspects of a murder investigation. How could this have happened, Logan is just visiting the town. What could she do to find out who the murderer is?

Mary Ann Jacobs narrated this audio book. Her voice is easy to listen to and I appreciated her use of slightly different tone of voice for different characters. I would be happy to listen to a book that Mary Ann Jacobs narrates in the future.

The Logan McKenna Series

AUDIO BOOK
By Valerie Davisson
☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆
This is a full length Suspense and Crime story. This story is for those over 18 due to subject matter and violence. This is a must read and follow in order of this series. For the full enjoyment of the mysteries that lie ahead.

Valerie has taken a much needed vacation with Ben and her family. Set in Oregon she has planned many adventures. None of which have anything to do with murder. But there she is right in the middle, left trying to prove her innocence. But that is not all you will find in the story. Logan now must find out what really happened, as well as keep her family safe. No spoilers here. You have to read it to believe it.

Valerie Davisson is keeping this series going. I love it! Her fast paced rollercoaster will keep you turning the pages of this story. Her description of the different sights, may even inspire you to visit as well. Without the crime though. Many emotions are also going to keep you reading. At some point you may need chocolate or wine. Job Well Done Valerie Davisson! Well Done!

Intriguing stand alone mystery

Safe Harbor, by Valerie Davisson, is actually the fifth book in her Logan McKenna Mystery series. Do not let this keep you from reading it as a stand alone! This is the first story I have read, and I had no issue following along.

Logan is trying to have a relaxing vacation with her family when she is thrown into the middle of a murder investigation. If that wasn't enough, the ghosts of her past can't seem to leave her alone either. Faced with a decision that could change everything, what can she do?

Safe Harbor by Valerie Davisson
Narrated by Mary Ann Jacobs
Four Stars

Safe Harbor: A Logan McKenna Mystery is the fifth book in the Logan McKenna series by Valerie Davisson. This book can be read as a standalone, but I recommend you read the series in order. All of the books feature Logan McKenna, a smart, determined, and independent woman. The characters have grown as this series progresses. I was amazed by the descriptions of the Oregon Coast, it makes me want to visit.
Now let me tell you, this is a wonderful murder mystery. It had me up reading half the night just to see how it would end. I was surprised about the twists and turns, and it kept me guessing until the end. I highly recommend this book, series and author.
The narration of this book was wonderful. This is the first book I have listened to by Mary Ann Jacobs. She brought the characters to life and I felt a great connection.

Who Dunnit?

This is the fifth book in the Logan McKenna series. This audio book is just under 7 hours long. The story follows Logan as she goes on a vacation – one she has not taken in years – and ends up getting pulled into a homicide investigation. Just when she thought she would be able to enjoy a family vacation, a murder happens in a normally quiet town. Trouble seems to follow this poor girl. The characters are well written, and scenery is very detailed. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat. This series get better and better.
