Story
She was a bewitching young girl, that pretty Polly Marsh, and she knew it. She also knew that beauty could be her passport into the castles where she had always known she belonged. So she set her sights on a duke and joined the firm of Westerman’s as a stenographer. Surely one of that noble family would notice her, and then all her dreams would come true! The trouble with pretty Polly Marsh was that she just didn’t know her place.

The Earl of Tredair has had his fill of balls, routs, and silly misses, and he despairs of finding someone extraordinary - that is, until he meets Miss Fanny Waverley. They have been raised as her disciples to spread the word of women's rights and to encourage poor oppressed females to stand up against the iniquities of the male sex. The beautiful and farouche Miss Fanny, however, finds it quite difficult to think of all men as cruel and lustful beasts....

Who would have guessed that behind Aunt Mabel's acid pen and ageless wisdom lurked eighteen-year-old Sally Blane - determined to make the handsome marquess her own! But how could she compete, wearing false wrinkles and a white wig? It was a challenge worthy of Sally herself: Conquer the upper crust of Dartware and enchant her newfound Prince Charming, without giving "Aunt Mabel's" secret away.

Okay
This book was quirky and different enough for a couple evening’s entertainment. Miss Dore’s narrations always take some getting used too, but if played on faster speed, it’s easy to get past the odd and stilted cadence. I think a different narrator could have added some wit and humor to the characters instead of the harsh play-by-play, and sometimes petulant tone, presented.
