Publisher's summary

Reformed gang boss Dante Pope is out after a four-year stretch in prison. But freedom has found him faster than he’s ready for. His only brother hates him, and with nothing but PTSD and a newfound fascination with plants for company, the outside world is a terrifying place.

A prisoner rehabilitation scheme lands him at a stately home that might as well be the moon. Working for gorgeous gardener Sid is a welcome distraction - his shoulders are broad, his rugged jaw unshaven, and his long, tanned legs?

Wow.

But Sid has problems of his own. A life-changing disease has left him limited in ways he can’t bear and accepting help, even from a stranger, makes him want to curl up and die.

If Dante would let him.

Newsflash: He won’t, and he’s not a stranger for long. With his dark smile and sinister ink, Dante Pope is the most beautiful man Sid has ever seen. Life is hard, but falling for each other is easy.

Sunshine and shadows.

Old ghosts can haunt Dante all they like. Loving Sid is the only salvation he’ll ever need.

Salvation is a sweetly angsty stand-alone MM romance novel in the Darkest Skies series. Expect: second chances, forced proximity, friends-to-lovers, and buckets of hurt/comfort themed loveliness. Content warnings for childhood trauma, violence, and chronic illness.

Worth the listen!

Salvation, while part of a series, can be read as a stand-alone. The characters are compelling and so achingly real. Their love felt authentic. I dinged one star because the book felt long toward the end. Still worth listening to, though.

Gorgeous Romance, Beautiful Performance by Calley

I really enjoy Dan Calley reading Garrett Leigh - a match made in heaven!

Garrett Leigh always writes such lovely hurt/comfort romances, and Dante and Sid are candidates for some seriously overdue happily ever after. It's fabulous watching these two dance around each other till they finally give up and dive into bed. Of course, their chemistry is smoking hot and Leigh writes gorgeous sex scenes... beautifully performed by Dan Calley.

Hot Story with Hot Narration 🔥

The story is so sweet and add in the sexy as hell narration this is a beautiful listen. This is the slow burn of smoldering attraction that I love. Then there is a bit of action that makes this an all around satisfying story.

Slow Burn

Dante is released from prison and gets a job as an assistant to Sid the head gardener. Sid has MS and is dealing with the changes in his body and physical abilities. Dante is doing his best to adjust to life after prison and to help Sid as much as he can. I didn’t read the previous books in the series and I’m kind of glad I didn’t. It allowed me to form a fresh view of Dante without dwelling on the things he did in the past. There are a lot of day to day interactions that show the growing bond between Sid and Dante. It warmed my heart to see Dante become so protective and in tune with Sid’s needs. Sid doesn’t think he can have a physical relationship with Dante because of his illness, but Dante is patient and never pushes him for more than he can give. Someone from Dante’s old life brings drama but it gets resolved. I very much enjoyed seeing these two get their HEA. This is my first time listening to Dan Calley and he did a great job with the narration.

Salvation for mind and body

This was not a first in the series but can definitely be read as a stand alone. Dante, needing salvation of mind after getting out of prison, seeks employment. He finds work in helping Sid, a master gardener who is seeking salvation for his body after getting diagnosed with MS. This slow burn love story focuses on both major characters seek salvation for mind and body in each other. Love the narration by Dan Calley.

Two new favourites!

Garrett Leigh and Dan Calley are my two new favourites.

The pain and hopelessness and self loathing is strong in this story, and at one point I was uncertain whether I would be able to finish it. But I'm so glad I did, because the hope is stronger for what it has to shine through, and the characters are so believable that the conclusion comes as a great joy and relief.

I heartily recommend!

Dante and Sid

This was a intriguing story. There are so many emotions from hurt and loneliness to passion and love. This was sweet with some angst. This was a second chance at life for both characters one coming out of jail and one having a chronic illness. This was a wonderful adventure and has a great ending. The narration was good.

Sid and Dante Find Love

Groundskeeper Sid and parolee Dante meet when Dante is assigned to work at the estate where Sid is the gardener. Their attraction is instant, but each man has baggage, both mental and physical, that keeps them apart. Will they allow their budding friendship to grow into something more?

Garrett Leigh delivers a slow-burn romance. Because of Dante’s post-incarceration PTSD and Sid’s debilitating disease, they are both opposed to starting a relationship, despite clearly being compatible. Dante, due to his past violent criminal behavior, doesn’t feel he deserves love and Sid doesn’t want to be a burden. As they continue to get to know each other, they each realize that it just might be love that will carry them through their difficult times. Light on the angst and heavy on the hurt comfort, ‘Salvation’ ends with a well-won happily-ever-after.

The steamier scenes are well-suited to the story happening around them. The sexual relationship starts tentatively and grows as Sid and Dante become more confident in their love. Full of emotion and tenderness, these glimpses serve to enhance the overall romantic feel of Leigh’s story.

Dan Calley does a great job with narration. His performance goes a long way to bringing me into Leigh’s story.

Dante's Remarkable Transformation

I read this book when it was first released and then absolutely had to grab the audio as soon it became available! Dan Calley's narration is spectacular and such a joy to experience. He does such a sublime job of breathing life into these characters. Highly recommend!!

I love that we finally get to see Dante redeem himself in this installment. His journey is so starkly different than anything I could've imagined from his introduction and involvement in Redemption [book one]. The transformation he undergoes and the manner in which he achieves it is so wonderfully heartfelt and enlightening. The Dante from book one is so remarkably different from the Dante we find in book three and watching how his friendship and relationship blossoms and grows with Sid is simply gorgeous. Garrett Leigh always brings such incredible depth to her characters and the layered richness she achieves in every book she writes never fails to wow and astonish me. I greatly admire her talent and her tenacity for creating such brilliant stories!

Seriously fantastic! Loved Dante & Sid!

Seriously fantastic!! I seriously hated Dante at the end of Redemption!! He was a serious piece of crap, but the author totally redeemed him; I didn’t think that was possible! Sid has MS and needs help. Dante learned gardening while in prison. Dante and Sid are complicated, they have a connection and instant chemistry. The story was raw, gritty and powerful, with two multi-layered, complex characters. Dan Calley did a great job with the narration.
