About this listen

The Ghosts of the Tanith First-and-Only have been away from the front line for too long. Listless and hungry for action, they are offered a mission that perfectly suits their talents.

The objective: the mysterious Salvation's Reach, a remote and impenetrable stronghold concealing secrets that could change the course of the Sabbat Worlds campaign. But the proposed raid is so hazardous, it's regarded as a suicide mission, and the Ghosts may have been in reserve for so long they've lost their edge. Haunted by spectres from the past and stalked by the Archenemy, Colonel-Commissar Gaunt and his Ghosts embark upon what could be their finest hour...or their final mission.

I have waited so long for these. When I first saw this in the black library I nearly baught it...but I waited for two reasons. 1: I didn't have the time then. 2: I wanted it on Audible with the rest of my collections.
I got time and I got my wish....now I just need the rest of the collection....to whom it may concern: I WILL BUY THEM IF MADE AVAILABLE .

Oh and review: narrator is great (keep him), story good, quality solid.

Record all the Gaunt books, I WILL BUY THEM!

This book was much more of a psychological evaluation rather then any form of adventure such as the first two Gaunt's Ghosts novels. This may be because I am reading them out of order, but I found myself bored with the regiment lacking solid characterization

A long look at death

Why on earth would the switch narrators mid series!? The new guys character voices are all terrible complete departures from the previous TWELVE books.

Purge the narrator

as always brilliant story. However the complete change of narration and voice of the characters is an insult to the history of it all, and personalities and voice we have come to love. Bring back the original narrators and leave it be. Why fix it if it isn't broken.

A new and regrettable choice for narration.

I’m jot sure why Toby Longworth didn’t narrate this book, but it was a mistake. I’m struggling through this listen in hopes that the next novel (which also has a different narrator) will be better.

Worst narrator ever

Cast this audible book back to the warp to where it belongs. The story itself was great but as other reviews say, the narrator took me out of the story completely with the voices of the characters. It was by far the hardest listen of any book I’ve listen to thus far.

Black library, please re-release this book with the first orginal narrator. Keep it true to the cause and keep it how Gaunt would’ve wanted it. First and Only.

Spoilers!

Space Marines, demon ships, and death..... Dan Abnett has done it again! wider now, more elements of the 40k universe are moving in. I liked the voice actor, he put a lot of power and passion in his voice acting, which I'll always give five stars for such effort.

incredible as usual

if theyd switched to a new narrator ten novels ago I might not have even cared, but after 12 in a row everyone's voice suddenly drastically different made it feel like it was somehow disjointed or out of continuity. not the fault of the new narrator, but when an old friend now has an unrecognizable voice, it detracts from the emotional moments.

probably wouldn't have minded...

As always Dan Abnett delivers a great story, but the narrator is awful, nigh unlistenable, Black Library should seriously consider re-recording this book with Toby Longworth, his work is always incredible.

Terrible Narration, Great Writing

I’ve been listening to the entire Gaunt’s ghosts series and this is the first and only, no pun intended, book by this voice actor in the series that I’ve heard. He’s good but it’s such a difference from the other voice actors it was hard to get over at first, but the story was great and makes me look forward to the next one

Just not Toby longworth
