It's scary how much life can change in an instant.
One minute I'm preparing for a new school year in my San Diego town, and the next I'm being ripped from my childhood home.
Making the cut from my father's death two years ago that much deeper.
Not only am I being forced to leave a place that reminds me so much of him, but I'm being forced to move hundreds of miles across the country to a city I've only learned about through Mom and social media.
Different climate. Different lifestyle. Different High School.
Riverside Prep is supposed to be the most prestigious school in New York City, little did I know it's also the cruelest.
There's one faction of sovereignty reigning over the school of the elite: and they call themselves The Royals.
These Royals aren't fancy nobles dripped in gold, though, no.
Or typical privileged adolescents.
These four guys are cold, ruthless, and take no prisoners.
Besides me, that is, because for some reason I catch the eye of their leader, who's known well to be the worst of them.
Crayton Shaw is not a high schooler, or a royal, he's more like Satan playing God.
A psychopath with his sights set on me, and I have no idea why.
He claims to hate the new girl from California...
But his eyes are always on me from the shadows, his lips tempting me with brutish words, his seductive nature making me want to venture into the dark side and drown in it.
Crayton's allure is almost as deadly as his wrath, and I spend most of my days trying to abstain from wanting both.
To remain the good girl my father loved.
But the more I'm around Crayton the more I crave his darkness.
His punishment. His twisted ways.
Satan's Spawn is the first book in The Royal Heathens series of standalones.
It's a dark, elite High School enemies to lovers romance with bully and stalker undertones.
There are situations in this story which may be disturbing to some listeners, so please be sure to check the author notes in the book before diving in.

Bex attempts to hold her own but the bullying and all the drama from the OW in the story is a lot. She has some supportive friends, the secondary characters in our story, and that’s the only way she gets through this.
Bex is SA’d after a party and that is really the turning point for the MMC when he realizes that his feelings of protectiveness and care for her are a lot stronger than his feelings of hate, and at that point, they become inseparable. The other woman in the story is not happy about this turn of events, and she really ups the ante to hurt the both of them, going so far as to frame Crayton for a crime that he did not commit. Don’t get it twisted, he has done some things in the book, but he actually did not do the thing he was accused of.
Our story ends with him behind bars, essentially doing time for not the original crime, but a lesser degree. But him and Bex are committed to making the relationship work until his release.
This is book 1 in what will be a series of interconnected standalone’s. So we already have a little insight into what book 2 is going to be about at the end of this book. I love the story. The writing is amazing. I literally could not put it down , it kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. The spice is so, so good. This is a definite must read.
Must read!!

Cecily Foster and Michael Norman Johnson brought these characters together life with emotional performances that had it rolling like a movie in my head. It was perfection. Love their voices.

Rebecca has just moved to a new town and is now attending a new high school. Crayton sees Rebecca and instantly hates her because of something that happened in his past.
Rebecca does not have an easy time at this new school with Crayton bullying her. As Crayton is bullying her she also starts to develop feelings for her.
Can Rebecca get past how Crayton has treated her? Can Crayton get past what has happened in the past? There were some parts of this book that I was like what is going on? However, I would continue on in the series to see what happens next in this series.

I am debating between 3-3.5*
Narrators 4*
The narrators did a good job. This is a first for me. I found the story dark and twisted but also a bit disturbing and weird. There were flashback to a sick and traumatic childhood. I couldn't understand how they were just high schoolers and wondered why they stayed in dorms and picked and choose if they would go home for the weekend. I liked the bully concept but think somethings went a bit too far. So I can only say I liked part of the story.
Ok
