About this listen

Knox is determined to find the drug lord hunting his twin's fated mate and put an end to him and his men, but when he locates the humans, he gets the surprise of his life—he knows the beautiful, bewitching female guiding them. This bear shifter isn't one for believing in second chances, but it looks as if the one he's been hoping for just walked into his territory. Now all he needs to do is save her, admit he's crazy in love with her, and not mess things up again!

Skye's bar is badly in need of a cash injection so when four men show up offering a huge sum of money for a guide, she agrees to take them up into a dangerous, wintry valley. When she finds herself their hostage things don't look good, and she's not sure her luck is changing for the better when she spots someone tailing them—a man she hasn't seen in two years—since they surrendered to their attraction and shared one magical night together . . . and he left her without a word.

Can Knox redeem himself by saving Skye from danger and prove himself worthy of a second shot with his one true mate? And can Skye bring herself to forgive the gorgeous, wicked Knox-the only man to break her heart?

Contains mature themes.

Bear attack!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 🖤💙💜❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏
Character development: 🙂🥰😎😄
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Skye - when her and her brother were kids, they hung out in the parking lot of an old closed down bar and she always said she wanted to buy it and refurbish it and open it up again. After her brother died in a horrible accident for which she blames herself. She was dead set on owning that bar rather than going to college like her parents wanted for her. Now that her bar is facing financial difficulties, she decides to take the money when a customer offers to give her a bunch to be her guide through some dangerous forests in the cold.

The Hero: Knox - he is a grizzly bear shifter and is determined to keep his family safe. When he finds out that a drug lord is out in the wilderness trying to find his brother’s mate whom he thinks has his stolen money, Knox plans on stopping him. Especially after he sees that the woman guiding them, now a captive, is the woman he knows is his fated mate.

The Story: Knox used to go to Skye’s bar quite a bit and they had spent some time together. Though after a steamy, intimate night, when he discovered she was his fated mate, he ghosted her. He told himself that he didn’t want a mate, he wanted to be free, though it was really his feelings of inadequacy that drove him to stay away from Skye for the past few years. Now that he has to save her from the men that have her, they are thrown together and end up getting close.

I liked this story quite a bit. Both main characters have some issues, but they are both good people. Skye is a human and doesn’t know about shifters, so Knox has to be careful in his rescue of her. The guys that have her, have guns and though he can change to a dangerous animal, guns can still kill him. I liked how he started picking the guys off one at a time.

This audiobook was done in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Elizabeth Hart and Troy Duran. Troy is one of my favorite male narrators, he has a fantastic voice and is great at using different voices for different characters. Elizabeth Hart isn’t bad, though she is not one of my favorites, there is some quality about her voice that kind of annoys me, but not too bad. It is just personal preference.
