But even though the Ren who has come home isn't the one who left, all of Declan's feelings come rushing back to the surface, and he steps in to help the only man he's ever truly wanted. And even though there's no future for them, keeping Ren safe is all that matters, and Declan will risk anything to make that happen.
Tough as nails former soldier and mercenary Jagger Varos has returned to Seattle after years of running from his past, and he's hoping that joining Barretti Security Group will help him finally call the city he left behind home. But within weeks, his new beginning is tested after multiple run-ins with the gruff, infuriating Detective Hale. When he inadvertently discovers that Declan is hiding Ren from the very brothers offering Jagger a new start, Jagger finds himself torn between his newfound loyalty to Vin and Dom Barretti and the need to protect the young man he himself helped rescue from his captors.
For Declan and Jagger, it's hate at first sight, but they soon realize that they will need each other if they have any hope of saving Ren from himself. And neither of them expects their mutual distrust in one another to grow into something else entirely or that Ren himself will find in both of them what he needs to rebuild his life and come to terms with who he really is.

The job at Sunday Orchard was supposed to be temporary. A chance to gain some work experience, to have some fun. I had not expected to be welcomed into a family of gorgeous and weirdly efficient lumberjack-types, or to find purpose in the tiny Vermont town whose claim to fame seemed to be apple-based products and copious amounts of charm. And I most definitely hadn’t expected to fall for Knox Sunday, my grumpy, burly, fifteen-years-older, reluctant roommate, with his infuriating lectures, his hot-as-fire body, his superior attitude - I’ve never been one to put down roots.

Oh these 3....🔥🔥
I just dont even know where to start. Ren was so broken when he was found by Declan and Jagger. These three men are so amazing together! You get steaming hot sexy times, action, adventure and a few tears to keep you on you're toes. Each word in this book masterfully laid down on paper and then brought to your ears by the incredible Michael Pauley. I must say that I feel like a stalker because I almost exclusively listen to Mr. Pauley. Lucky for me he narrates for my favorite authors. Listen to this series! It is necessary for life sustainment.

Pretty standard still enjoyable
I’ve read/listened to many of Sloan Kennedy’s books In the Beretti and Protector series. After a while they blend together and they’re quite predictable. With that said, good narration still makes them enjoyable audio books.

Can i say yummy. so very yummy i love that jagger is honest about his learning disabilities. dyslexic suck i have it myself as well as three of my sons yet. not matter what i love reading and listening to stories. People dont realize that have issue doesn't mean we are stupid.

This was book 3 in the "Barretti Security" series. Ren Barretti has finally come home after a year of being held captive by the terrorists who slaughtered his entire Special Forces team. But he can't escape the nightmares that torment him or the guilt that he was the only one to walk away. Ren is suffers from PTSD and he left because he didn't want to hurt anyone in his family like he almost hurt Mia his big brother Vin's girlfriend. Police Detective Declan Hale has felt an undeniable pull towards the very straight Ren Barretti since the day Ren's brother Dom married Declan's younger sister Sylvie almost a dozen years earlier. Tough as nails former soldier and mercenary Jagger Varos has returned to Seattle after years of running from his past and he's hoping that joining Barretti Security Group will help him finally call the city he left behind home. But within weeks, his new beginning is tested after multiple run-ins with the gruff, infuriating Detective Hale. When he inadvertently discovers that Declan is hiding Ren from the very brothers offering Jagger a new start, Jagger finds himself torn between his newfound loyalty to Vin and Dom Barretti and the need to protect the young man he himself helped rescue from his captors. This was a really good read Declan and Jagger took care of Ren showing him that he was safe with them. Each man has been through a lot Jagger with his mother and her boyfriend who is Declan's boss who has had it out for him Jagger also suffered from dyslexia and he was a shame of it and thought that they wouldn't want him when they found out. Declan also went through things like he is in the closet no one knows he is gay and when he told his grandfather he was almost disowned. Ren was straight and he was even more confused when he started having feelings for both men. The sex scenes in this book were hot as hell the three of them had some hot chemistry. This book also brought home the dangers of war and the PTSD seemed so real for me someone who has worked with men and women who have been to war and some of the things that they struggle with when they come home. Each of these men have been through somethings in their past that with the three of them it made them whole. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading and listening to the next book in this series.

Scorching Hot!!!
This is the hottest, sexiest book I've ever read because the feelings between the characters run deep. Interesting story that keeps your attention from beginning to end. Perfect narration, as usual by Michael. Highly recommend!

Hot AF!🔥🔥🔥
Yes, I love me some Declan, Jagger and Ren! The one caveat I had was that I wanted to know how long Ren retreated from his guys. As for the little definition like REN’s hair grew out and he was more muscular from working out , it sounded like a long time. But if that were true, Declan and Jagger would have had more hurt and some resentment, especially after all they did for Ren, as opposed to taking him back so easily. Plus the fact that Jagger can now read. In reality, the relationship between the two would have progressed so much farther without Ren. But then selfish Ren just easily reinserts himself? Come in! That was my only pet peeve.
