About this listen

My mum told me I could be anything I wanted to be–and it turns out that I want to be an alpha werewolf. I’m finally starting to get a hang of this alpha malarkey when destiny sticks her oar in once again.

There’s a prophecy about me, and it’s time for me to find out what it says. So when my best friend Jess cooks up a hare-brained scheme to get hold of the prophecy through fair means or foul, I’m along for the ride before you can say "bail money".

Getting my wolfy paws on the prophecy is only the beginning, though, because I’m not the only one aware of its existence. Some of my enemies will stop at nothing to prevent the prophecy from coming true. I’ve a battle on my hands, so it’s lucky that I have super soldier Greg Manners by my side.I’m a pretty chilled-out alpha, but when unknown wolves slink onto my land and attack my unicorn, all bets are off. No one attacks my murderous little Ares and gets away with it.

Beckett Frost is coming my way with vengeance in mind; the black witch is still free, ready to steal powers and destroy lives; I have enemies piling up around me–so I do what any girl would do and call in my family, my weirdly Other birth family. I need allies, and fast, because war is coming to Home Counties Pack whether we’re ready or not.

Luckily, Esme was born ready.

Bring it on.

Love this whole series!

Heather G Harris was my favorite new author of 2022
I discovered her when I read the Other Realm series.
If you have not read this series don't miss it!
The creation of the new world, the characters, the emotions.
This trilogy is the second in The Other world.
Alyse Gibbs does a great job with the narration. I love the British accent!

One of the Best Ends to a Series I Read!!

Book 3 of the series starts with the long awaited tourney and a reorganisation of the pack, and at the start, we get to see Tristan handed the proverbial by Greg after Tristan stupidly challenges him for second.
Things have changed a lot for Lucy and the Pack by book 3, with several additions to the pack, Ares the Unicorn guarding the property, and biggest of all, she has found out that she was once an elemental, Lucinda Alessandro, before she was extinguished by her Vampyr relative to save her life after someone killed her Mother and Father and tried to kill her. She has also learnt she is part of a prophecy, and at the start of this book, her and Jess (her best friend, Jess ‘Jinx’ Sharp, private eye extraordinaire and seriously deadly Wizard), are going to go and find out what it is.
Things don’t go quite as planned though, Plan A doesn’t work (when do they ever for these two?), and so they go to Plan B. This sees Jess and Lucy (along with some others), moving into the past (I’m not giving any spoilers).
Things in this book only pick up from there, as the crazed Alpha Beckett Frost is still hellbent on coming after Lucy and killing her to take over her pack, take what he wants and kill the rest. Added to this, Lucy has the added burden of still finding the Black Witch who was responsible for abducting the children as she was never found. She also needs to work out how to break the curse of the Gargoyles.
All that, whilst managing her pack – so not that much to do…
I really don’t want to give anything away for this book, there is so much that happens, but any discussion is just going to give spoilers. Needless to say, this is a full-on, action-packed and climactic book in which Harris not only wraps up all of the threads that have been created in this series so far, but does it in a way that will leave you flipping pages so fast, you will feel a breeze on your face. And you will need it, from the combination of brutal, ferocious fights, to gut-wrenching scenes that leave you reaching for tissues, to lines that have you crying in absolute hysterics they are so funny (this is not an audiobook to ever listen to in a public place!!!) It is an exceptional journey, as we follow Lucy, Greg and the Pack, as well as multiple other characters, new and old, on what is a enthralling and extraordinary thrill-ride to see what becomes of this outstanding Woman and her Werewolf Pack.
The character work continues to be brilliant in this book (series), Harris is gifted and incredibly gifted in creating this characters that you just fall in love with, they become part of your life and you just want to know more about them. Lucy is this exceptional young woman, whilst she is beautiful, she is incredibly grounded, at times even unsure of herself, and without the support of her right hand Greg, or her wolf Esme, she might stumble in parts under the sheer stress of everything she is trying to cope with. But with their support, she is an absolute powerhouse. Greg is just brilliant, he continues to be hilarious and unstoppable as he was in ‘The Other’ series. Perhaps the funniest part of this series though, has always been Esme. Her one liners, her continuous blood thirsty nature, and utter love for Lucy make her completely lovable – everyone needs an Esme in life.
This is an outstanding final book in this trilogy, one of the best third books in a series I have read for a long time, and an absolute must read for any fan of the series. Hopefully there will be another series as Lucy, Esme and their Pack are just Brilliant!!
Alyse Gibbs has such a beautiful voice, you can listen to it endlessly. She does such an outstanding voice for Lucy, who you know has a voice that is just as stunning as she is. Gibbs tells the story wonderfully from Lucy’s point of view, creating a range of both male and female character voices, each voice slightly different, so that you can easily tell who is who, without having to be told. Gibbs is a wonderful ‘Voice Actor’ instead of just a Narrator, providing not only the narration, but also the emotional aspects of the story, really bringing each of the characters to life, along the story. Harris has written this with an audiobook in mind, in that there is not a lot of ‘He said/she said’, and the narrative flows very nicely (even with Jinx’s lie detector ability). With Gibbs characters voices, and the lovely narrative flow, it makes for a really wonderful listening experience, especially given that Gibbs has such a beautiful voice. This is one of those Audiobooks, in which the quality is so good that it is far better to listen to it than read it as you get so much more from the Audiobook!!! This is a must listen!!
