About this listen

One little wager will determine their fate - a daring escape or falling into temptation with a rakish lord.

Lady Betsy Wilde’s first season was triumphant by any measure, and a duke has proposed - but before marriage, she longs for one last adventure.

No gentleman would agree to her scandalous plan - but Lord Jeremy Roden is no gentleman. He offers a wager. If she wins a billiards game, he’ll provide the breeches.

If he wins...she is his, for one wild night.

But what happens when Jeremy realizes that one night will never be enough?

In the most important battle of his life, he’ll have to convince Betsy to say no to the duke.

The story is good but needs a new editor. It was not Diana's mom who shot Jeremy. How does the surgery not remember what was written in the book before. You would think they would reread it. I've listen to two minutes of the next book and they already made a mistake on the story from previous books.

Story not consistent

Jeremy is recovering from the horrors of war while Boadicea is haunted by family history in this serial novel with its moving and empathetic plot, and engaging characters. Eloisa James’ elegant and insightful prose never overshadows the plot or the characters.

I loved the characters, their dialogue, and the way they related to one another. The details of the period and location made me want to step into it. Love this author and this narrator!

although this is a series and James is continuing a flow from book to book, each one can stand out by itself. She continues with the Wilde family but this story on its own is exciting and rich with detail and plot twists unexpected. Yet the romance is passionate and true. James has no need to rip the couple apart in order to keep the reader interested. Duerden narrates with great expression and understanding of each character she's representing, further enhancing any momentary drama. a very satisfying HEA.

masterful storytelling every time

I’ve listened to this many times and love it!! Susan Duerdan is fabulous! Her male and female voices are flawless. The story is definitely sexy, so if that isn’t your cup of tea, I’d pass. But, if it is, this one is funny, warm and a delicious story!

Always love reading this!
