About this listen

Scar:

Twelve years ago, I saved a woman after a bunch of lowlifes kidnapped her and kept her locked up for weeks. I risked everything - my future with the MC, even my life - to save Lynn. But they destroyed her. She was alive, but nothing of her was left. So I forgot her because I had no other choice. Now, all the men who destroyed her life are dead, and I wanted her to know that.

She's still as gorgeous as ever, still every bit the beauty queen she was when we met. But she's not well, and she doesn't need a compassionless killer like me in her life. Some call me the Scarred Devil, and I earned that name. Saving Lynn from life as a sex slave was the last "human" thing I did. Now, there's none of that humanity left.

No, she doesn't need another monster in her life. But I can't stay away. This time I'll claim her, get what I couldn't have then. And I don't want to break her again, but I probably will.

Contains mature themes.

I’ve listened to this multiple times

So I just wanted to say that it’s a good book overall. It’s hard to listen to the pure torture that these two have gone through. Which makes the first half a slightly less enjoyable listen however I do believe that to give fair merits you have to hear the whole story. It should come with some warnings of hard to hear situations ....in all fairness just FYI.

Good story but could have been much shorter.

The women in this series are weak and their emotional dialogues becomes a bit overdone and don't always contribute to the story line itself.

Sweet

this was a heartfelt storyline that started ugly. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Scarr and Lynne find love again. Looking forward to the next chapter.

Scar and Lynn

Another great addition to this series. That being said, I did not hate this story but at the same time I did not love it; only because Scar had no compassion, understanding or general feelings for what Lynn endured. I can get that what she went through was 12 years prior but she was barely living life and finding a routine for herself. I know these are fictional characters but I guess I just expected more from Scar.

Horribly handled ptsd and it ruins “those” scenes

Look, I read a lot of darker romances so I’m no stranger to stories involving couples where one or both have gone through trauma and are working through ptsd, and I get that not everyone is going to be an expert in handling people with ptsd, but the way the leading man treats the traumatized by rape and kidnapping leading lady during sexy times is honestly such a turn off?! Even in the lead up to their coupling, when she’d start to panic he was literally get angry at her for not putting out, that made him so incredibly UNSEXY, it made this book a struggle to get through. There was even a scene where she is panicking about him being on top and holding her arms down while they’re actively doing the deed and when she panics does he stop to fully check in with her? No. He just lets go of her arms and starts having sex with her slower. I really hope this writer NEVER writes about bdsm because safe, sane, and consensual might be something she struggles with writing about. Another scene that bothered me is he is fully aware that men scare her, especially men touching and grabbing her, and there’s a scene where he comes up behind her, grabbing her, and if I recall correctly even covers her mouth so she can’t scream?! He did this to a kidnapping victim??? What the actual f**k, that ain’t cute. 0/10 love interest, she deserved better.
