About this listen

Katherine Adams never thought she'd end up in a small town in Texas, but when things start to go south, it's the perfect place to escape to.

Emmett Santiago, Bluebonnet's golden boy, never imagined he'd fall so quickly, but one glance at Kate and he's a goner.

Moving in with Katherine's aunt her junior year of high school is the safest choice for her sister, and Katherine plans to do everything she can to make Bluebonnet their home. That most definitely doesn't include flirting with a certain boy, no matter how charming his smile is. Katherine might not believe in love, but Emmett is determined to win her over.

When the sparks start to fly, who'll be the one to make the first move?

Contains mature themes.

Oh my word. Anna definitely picked the right narrators for Emmett and Kat. I throughly enjoyed listening and picturing what was happening in the book.

So good

This story was wonderful, but the female narrator almost made this a DNF. She over enunciates every word, making the character seem robotic. The male narrator was great!

Love the story, hate the female narrator.

This is my first book by this author and I wasn't sure what to expect. But I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this story.

Kiss Me First is a new age story set in HS and these characters are so sweet and really have such a great story. I am not usually one to enjoy HS (high school) age characters. But these were not mature or whiney like some. These characters have good heads on their shoulders. They have goals and love!

The audio is one I listened to in one sitting. I enjoyed the narrators very much with this one.

Good HS Story

I kind of jumped around with this series so it was nice to go back to the beginning and see how it all started. When Kate and her younger sister moved to a small town to live with their aunt, their lives changed for the better. And one of the best things is Emmett Santiago.

A good series

It was absolutely hallmark plus 🌶️. Exactly what I was hoping for.
Not to mention I could listen to Aiden Snow read a CVS receipt and be happy so hearing this tenderness from his voice was heart melting.

A sweet love story.

Love Aiden but not the female narrator. I skipped several chapters when she was narrating. The story was OK but could have been wrapped up sooner if it weren't for the repeated description throughout.

Female narrator.....no

I'm going to be so honest with you, the only reason I read this is because you have to have read this in order to understand Kiss Me Forever (BU Novella, 5.5). I hate that for me. I also hate the "I'm not like the other girls..." trope and it's worse when you have the characters actually say it unironically. Who is that for? I'm not even sure it was a joke or not. If I was reading it I'd probably think it was but because of the narrators it's played off as genuine. You can write romance without resorting to this trope, teens or not why do we do this belittling of other girls (who are seen as a "threat") in the narrative. Also, you will always catch me feeling slightly bad for the girl they clearly want us to hate... like I don't know her outside of the story, why should I hate her?

So there was no way I was giving this anything other than maybe a 3 stars. That's being a bit too generous because the story itself is nothing special. It's teens with instalove... and I think that's why I wasn't interested in this as much as the rest of the series because they are in high school and at least in the other stories the romance feels earned. The romance here feels like "Trust me they love each other" why? Because the story said so... At least with Callie and Hayden (their backstory starts in HS) their love story feels earned because we get to know who they were and who they eventually became. Nix and Yas start off as enemies to frenemies to friends to lovers (set up in the two books), Rei and Zane are rivals to lovers, etc etc... there's built up. Maybe I just like my romances with built up because this is not it.

Not the whole "I'm not like the other girls..."
