About this listen

After thwarting a catastrophic attack on the Lyceum, Jol Rivers has settled nicely into his life as a mage-in-training and local hero to his fellow students at the school.

But it isn’t long before he’s drawn into the nefarious schemes of an Imperial Inquisitor and forced to contend once again with the monstrous inhumi and their unholy master: the Autarch.

This follow up is even better than the 1st book in the series which was fantastic. The world building is fleshed out more and the characters get more depth. The ending is fulfilling and doesn't blue ball you while still leaving a logical thread for the 3rd book. I will definitely get the 3rd installment.

World building and character are top tier

Ok I feel like a hypocrite because my only complaint about this book was adding a bunch of girls to the harem at the end and then alluding to them having sex. My biggest complaint with Dante king is how fast he has characters have sex and then become inseparable, which it also does so I guess two complaints. Overall it's still a decent series for being the cookie cutter probably half written by AI that DK usually puts out.

Decent book
