About this listen

From the #1 New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author of the genre-breaking international TikTok sensation Butcher & Blackbird and Leather & Lark comes the final book in the Ruinous Love Trilogy—a friends-with-benefits dark romantic comedy packed with murder, mayhem, and spice.

Doctor Fionn Kane is running from a broken heart, one he hopes to mend in small-town Nebraska, far away from his almost-fiancé and his derailed surgical career. It’s a simpler life: head down, hard work, and absolutely no romantic relationships. He wants none of the circus he left behind in Boston.

But then the real circus finds him.

Motorcycle performer Rose Evans has spent a decade on the road with the Silveria Circus, and it suits her just fine, especially when she has the urge to indulge in a little murder when she’s not in the spotlight. But when a kill goes awry and she ends up with an injured leg, Rose finds herself stuck in Nebraska, at the home of the adorably nerdy town doctor.

The problem is, not every broken heart can be sewn back together.

. . . And the longer you stay in one place, the more likely your ghosts are to catch up.

Editorial Review

A circus performer walks into a clinic...
Scythe & Sparrow, the conclusion to Brynne Weaver’s Ruinous Love Trilogy, is finally here—and I was hooked from the moment I pressed play. This story has it all: tension, chaos, and steam that had me blushing one minute and literally saying, “Oh, my” out loud the next. Dr. Fionn Kane, trying to leave the darkness of his past behind, is living a quiet life in Nebraska when Rose, a circus performer with a dangerous secret, crashes into his world—literally. After an injury lands her under his care, their connection grows in ways neither of them expected, pulling them into a web of danger and desire. Eric Nolan and Samantha Brentmoor deliver a performance that brings every twist and stabby turn to life. —Patty R., Audible Editor

The first 2 books were better, in my opinion but this was worth the read. It didn’t make me laugh out loud like the other books but I still enjoyed it.

Awesome to have a conclusion

I don’t know how she does it, but Brynne keeps outdoing herself!! I can appreciate the humor in every book and this one didn’t let me down!

I was in love with Rose from the previous books, but this book made me love her even more! She’s a badass b!tch and Fionn had the right amount of love and protection for his girl!!

Btw… Barbara… Barbara was the best 😂

Absolutely loved!!

Rose and Fionn is the best way to end the Ruinous Love Trilogy. Fionn is hiding from his darker self in Nebraska. Then meets Rose, a circus motorcycle performer who unalives domestic abusive men in her spare time. She messes up one time and Fionn needs to help healing her broken leg. They grow to love each other, but Fionn is concerned about the darkness inside him, causing him to be a jackass.

Scythe & Sparrow is a love story with emotional traumatized characters. It wasn’t just a story about character (Leather & Lark) and it wasn’t about psychological fun and games Butcher & Blackbird). It’s a story of 2 people who are dealing with their own experiences in a way that suits them. It has a good plot and the trilogy overarching plot ended in a satisfying way. The romance had a lot of tension and when Rose and Fionn finally give in, it’s dynamic and spicy. The characters are all inherently flawed and they grow past being slightly sociopathic loners to caring about each other, protecting each other and those they love. As always, check trigger warnings!

What an amazing ending to a fantastic trilogy!! I love these brothers & the women they fall for. Each book has been an incredible ride and this one was no different. Again the narration takes you completely into the story and makes you feel all the emotions. Highly recommend the entire trilogy.
