About this listen

Cathy Bissette thought she had left everything behind - the publishing job, the glamour of New York, the broken heart - for a quiet three-month getaway on the shores of North Carolina. But the moment Jared Parsons sailed the lavish Sea Gypsy into Pamlico Sound, she knew her quiet refuge was ruined. She wasn't sure what bothered her more about this stranger - his arrogant attitude or the way he got under her skin.

Would Cathy run away again? Or run straight into the arms of a man she loved to hate - and hated to love?

Critic reviews

"Fern Michaels shines." ( Publishers Weekly)
"...characters are real and endearing, her prose so natural that it seems you are witnessing the story rather than reading..." ( Los Angeles Sunday Times)

The Narration was good each of the characters cadence stayed consistent throughout the book. The story was a little choppy, it could have shown the secondary characters thoughts and feelings more. In general I like Fern Michaels books this one was ok

The voice doesn’t match the intelligence of a copy editor. Listening to the chauvinistic narcissistic male lead and clearly a chauvinistic father was insulting. She Is a simpering wimp for a supposed New York businesswoman. I just could not finish this book
