About this listen

It was one of the most dangerous secret missions of the War in the Pacific: a coordinated US submarine attack against a Chinese arms shipment rumoured to be bound for Pakistan.

But as USS Oklahoma City sails toward the Chinese coast, she stumbles onto an even greater threat to the West. Outnumbered, isolated and alone, with tension aboard the submarine at breaking point, the OKC and her exhausted crew must battle to outwit the Chinese navy and then finally fight for their lives.

Great story

Enjoyed this book. I like submarine stories. The book is fast-paced and well narrated. I would like a a second book with the same interesting characters. Too short but perfect if a second installment follows.

Leadership and accountability

I loved the characters… they were real, human, vulnerable and heroic. I could imagine myself being in the same unit as the characters, serving together. The camaraderie, the puzzle solving. Realism.

Relatively accurate for military jargon

Enjoyed the voice actors depiction and portrayal of the CO of the ship as a stern and serious captain.

Good but

As a stand alone, reasonable, but and at 68, I have a strong memory of books and movies from the past especially 60’s and 70’s, it would have been better if the plot and story had been the author’s own. I listened to the very end in hopes that the author had a burst of originality. Thankfully I had read the full set, this would have put me off.
