Best series City Murders

Refreshing to read mystery books minus the excessive use of bad language. Good character development and story moved along at a good enough pace to be enjoyable read/listen . I recommend this series.

First of McVicar's that I have listened to, but will definitely look for more of his. He did a great job.

Interesting story for a straightforward case

A double murder case with little complications, but mostly dramatic. Nice listening, although some of the characters sounded too cool for the situation.

Best in the series so far

This is a great story, probably the best in the series so far. It’s not only an excellent police procedural but it also brings home the risks that police face every day. The dangers, difficulties, effects on family and the camaraderie between officers comes through well in this audiobook. It’s a story that will pull at your heart and bring tears to your eyes. The narrator really does a good job of making you feel the tension and emotions in the book, and gives the characters individual voices. You soon become attached to the characters and the intriguing storyline definitely keeps you captivated throughout the book.

Terrible waste of money in true crime section

The crime itself was about 5% of the narrative. There was no mystery, no suspense, zero depth. The book was packed with lame dialogue like the detective’s many phone calls to his mom. Who cares? The crime could have been explained in 15 minutes so the author laughingly padded the story with boring and non-relevant conversations, none of which rang true. A waste of money.
