Publisher's summary

To their friends, Nick and Cathy Chance have the perfect marriage. High school sweethearts who've been together for ten years, they've weathered challenges and are as committed as they were when they first fell in love. Cathy trusts Nick, Nick's world revolves around his wife, and the future looks golden.

To everyone who knows them, Cathy Chance and Roxanne Ruiz have a perfect friendship. They connected in grade school and since then have been each other's confident and trusted advisor. Cathy loves the gorgeous Roxanne like a sister, Roxanne has fun-loving Cathy's back in every situation, though lately there's been tension between these two best friends . . .

And then, on a sunny summer morning, the unthinkable occurs, throwing into doubt the truth of what each of these people really know about themselves and one another.

Will Roxanne's sacrifice be too little, and too late? Should Nick's love for his wife be strong enough to risk trusting his heart more than logic? Can Cathy's devotion to Nick give her enough strength to convince him to see her for who she really is?

Secret Sister proves how strong, how stubborn, and how trustworthy love can be as Nick and Cathy and Roxanne are challenged to overcome the secrets, the lies . . . and one extraordinary twist of fate that turns their lives upside down.

Heart Rending

This book is about true love, soul bonding love. It's a tragedy. Made my heart hurt. Made me cry. It's also a wonderful Happily Ever After. If you love tragic stories with happy endings, this book is for you. I really enjoyed the narration... Pam James.

Excellent Narration, and story is must read/listen

I listened to Secret Sister via Audible.
It came highly recommended!
I'm so glad I listened, this book is different, and just what I needed for the reading slump
I was in!

Secret Sister is nothing what I anticipated, it was so much more.
Taking the well developed characters in clever twists and turns,
it made for wonderful audiobook story!
The narration was fantastic, a perfectly matched voice to the beautiful words!

It has a hint of the paranormal in it, as well a little suspense,
definitely not your typical romance tale, and that's a great thing in my book!!

I will for sure be checking out other novels from this new to me author!
I'm so blessed to have reading buddies I can depend on to recommend these amazing stories!

Moving and thought provoking

Moving! That's the kind of story Secret Sister is.
I want to tell you Why I avoided picking up this book at first - the cover. It looked as if it would be a love triangle story, which is a premise I dislike on principle and don't find any appeal on. The blurb didn't do much to contradict the impression of the cover, BUT reading the blurb AFTER finishing the book it really made it for a brilliant summation without giving away the plot.
At any rate, I took a chance because this book was gifted to me without any expectations and a friend told me it was NOT a love triangle story. I am SO glad that I did give it a shot!

So here we are. It's been 5 days since I finished the read and only now I couldn't bring myself to write the review for fear I wouldn't do it justice. I really had to process how I felt and get my emotions in check, which brings me to this point: if you are in a mood for a story that will make you really FEEL as if you are transported into the pages, this is it! Read it and be ready for a ride like no other. This whole book consumed me. Chewed my heart and spit it out!
The writing is vivid and intense, the narrator held nothing back! She performed it brilliantly and brought the characters to life in a way that made me really feel like I knew them on a personal level. I felt for them, grieved with them, I loved with them. God! how does a person tell a story like this? Creating magic and new lives with words; having them invade my own life and change my heart more than I ever thought possible.
Cathy is the woman I want to be, Nick is a man every woman wants their man to be like, Bradley and Dr. Seth are the friends we all wish we were lucky enough to have in our lives, and Roxanne is a woman that makes you really think about how little our exteriors mean when we constantly battle with who we are.
Give it a try. If you like emotional stories you won't be sorry.

Good book

STORY REVIEW.......

The book is packed full of action and vibrant characters and is well written. It has a good, though predictable ending. With a touch of the paranormal (reincarnation) and so full of twists and turns, I just couldn’t put it down once I started it. I found this novel fascinating on many levels. The writing style is good and the dialogue flowed naturally, so the reader is quickly drawn into the character’s world. The over all story moved me because it addresses the big questions of life, such as what happens after you die, friendship and most importantly the nature of love.

AUDIO REVIEW......

I found the narrator to be very good at reading the book as well as giving the characters life and voice. A well as attitude, humor and emotions.

Lingering tenderness

The narrator hits the nail squarely on the head with this rendition. If you want a character study of 2 female friends that fascinate you while leading you through a full range of feelings, this is the novel for you. I think I became a bit more forgiving of my friends & family as I felt the transitions in these characters' lives and loves. I'll listen or read this a few more times. It's warm and tender, yet exciting with an ending that satisfies.

Secret Sister

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. This is a very different type of romance that keeps the listener on edge to find out what happens and how this couple can end up with a happy ever after. Very unusual.

What did you like best about this story?

The story is well written in that even though there are many characters to get to know the author very aptly introduces each character in a manner that is very easy to remember who is who and their place in the story.

What three words best describe Stephanie Bentley’s performance?

ok, ok, ok. I didn't think she did the male characters very well at all. I've listened to a lot of audio books and the only character that sound male was Nick. The other male characters sounded more female to me. However, this didn't take away from the story for me.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It was so different from what I'm used to reading that I couldn't put it down. I wanted to see how the author could possibly solve the problems that the H&H were having.

Any additional comments?

While this was a very good book by this author I'm not sure I would like to read this type of book on a regular basis.
