About this listen

With nothing but the clothes on his back - and something horrific snapping at his heels - Jack Winter fled his rural Georgia home when he was just a boy. Watching the world he knew vanish in a trucker’s rearview mirror, he thought he was leaving an unspeakable nightmare behind forever.

Now, years later, the bright new future he’s built suddenly turns pitch black, as something fiendishly familiar looms dead ahead.

Surviving a violent car crash seems like a miracle for Jack’s family, but Jack knows there’s nothing divine about it. The profound evil he uncovered as a boy has finally found him again. The thing that crouched at his bedside with soulless eyes and grinning, razor-sharp teeth is back with plans for Jack and his angelic youngest daughter, and a chilling promise: I’ve always been here, and I’ll never leave.

This list encompasses the full spectrum of what horror can be—campfire-worthy tales, stomach-churning gore, and incisive social commentary. The classics are accounted for, but it also spotlights more recent titles, because that’s the nature of the genre—it is as perennial as it is ever-evolving, conjuring whatever frights most haunt our collective consciousness. Each title does have one thing in common: It makes for devilishly good listening. So cut the lights and press play—if you dare.

Seed that grows

I liked this book. It was not what I expected which made it better I think. I kept thinking it was going to end a whole lot differently. Narrator was pretty good but not the best I've listened to. All in all? Good book to listen to.

BRUTAL!

I never grew bored at any point and it only picked up speed until that brutal crash (figuratively) in the end. I loved it.

Could have been more scary

Overall I liked this book, it was pretty creepy. If it would have been narrated by someone different I think it could have been way more creepy. The narrator has a voice made more for western novels instead of horror.

A satisfying slow build horror

Ania Ahlborn hits all the right tropes a horror fan will appreciate without ever coming across as cliche. The story builds slow and steady growing more ominous with each scene. If you enjoy a well crafted horror masterfully written, I highly recommend Seed.

Eric G. Dove’s performance was on point and adds to your growing sense of dread. His delivery is on point and adds a lot something extra to the story.

Short and sweet

Just enough character development to speed the story up to get to the spooky plot. I enjoyed this very much.

Another solid book for Ahlborn!

While I didn’t like this as much as Brother, it’s still another great book by an incredible author. Ania is quickly becoming one of my favorite modern authors and I can’t wait to check out more of her work

Outstanding!

I’m so upset that it’s over. Very sad, but also so scary. Chills…this has to be made into a movie.

This book kept its hold on me till the very end. So unsettling, but in the best way for a great horror read
