About this listen

Twelve. Twelve of the deadliest beasts ever forged in the fires of hell have escaped onto our plane, and they want nothing more than to rip out the jugular of Charley Davidson and serve her lifeless, mangled body to Satan for dinner. So there's that. But Charley has more on her plate than a mob of testy hellhounds. For one thing, her father has disappeared, and the more she retraces his last steps, the more she learns he was conducting an investigation of his own, one that has Charley questioning everything she's ever known about him. Add to that an ex-BFF who is haunting her night and day, a rash of suicides that has authorities baffled, and a drop-dead sexy fiancé who has attracted the attentions of a local celebrity, and Charley is not having the best week of her life. But all of that combined barely scratches the surface of her problems. Recent developments—and a few distressing prophesies—have forced her to become a responsible adult. Exactly the kind of adult she's never aspired to be. To conquer such a monumental task, she's decided to start small. Really small. She gets a pet. But how can she save the world against the forces of evil when she can't even keep a goldfish alive?

A tad north of hell, a hop, skip, and a jump past the realm of eternity, is a little place called Earth, and Charley Davidson, grim reaper extraordinaire, is determined to do everything in her power to protect it.
We're doomed.

Charlie really finds her power

If you could sum up Seventh Grave and No Body in three words, what would they be?

Supernatural, Superpower , Reaper

What did you like best about this story?

Charlie really finds out who she is and learns to use her powers. There are some very strange and nasty happenings, however every book in this series has just gotten better and better.

What about Lorelei King’s performance did you like?

I've listened to Lorelei King narrate other books and she's great. In this series she is Charlie, and she does all the characters fantastic. You always know who's speaking. I hope she continues to do the voice of Charlie.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed, I was emotional, I enjoyed this book because it really showed how Charlie not only comes into her powers, but never stops being a caring human being.....even though she's really not a human being, as we would define her.

Any additional comments?

I'm really looking forward to the next book. I hope we don't have to wait to long, but if it's as good as this one and Lorelei King narrates, I know it will be fantastic. Thank you Darynda Jones for your great paranormal series :)

One of my favorite series!

I agree with all the glowing reviews of this wonderful series. And Lorelei King's narration is so skilled and so perfect for all the characters. She's amazing in her talent to capture each character with a totally identifiable vocal quality.

I love Charley and Reyes with all their passion (lots more delicious sex in this book) and Osh (spelling?) and Uncle Bob and...you get the point.

Darynda Jones has a wonderful writing style and I can't wait for the next book that I hope she hurries up and writes before I have too much caffeine.

Seventh Grave

Here we go again! Charley is pregtastic! Everything in this story just took on a whole new dimension. How will she get thru 9 months without coffee! Thank goodness she has Reyes and where would she be without Cookie. This was another great installment. Who would have thought a person could survive so much, I suppose that’s why Darynda made her a Grimm Reaper. Can’t wait for book 9. Love you Darynda Jones write like the wind!

enticing & twisty

never a dull moment around Charlie! in this novel there was a lot more mind wandering to get the backstory told and more graphic seductive scenes...... but still a great story!!!

Sometimes I just want a fun book and this series fills that bill. Not at all believable but just plane fun.
