Publisher's summary

When a god wants you dead, it’s safe to assume life can’t get any worse. Wrong. I’m enemy number-one to a powerful fae and I’ve ticked off the Master of the vampires one too many times.

Life - or rather, death - is coming at me fast. I definitely didn’t expect a demon placing a bounty on me to be added to the what-the-hell-else-could-go-wrong Bingo card.

Adding to my problems, the two men in my life are pushing me to make a choice that could not only cost me a friendship, but a valued ally.

What do I do when one of the most powerful beings in the world wants me dead, I’m out of my depth in unknown magic, and my allies could become my enemies?

I’ll do what I always do when I’m against the ropes or cornered - fight harder.

Because there is only one option: Survive.

Whooshing plot twists

I would go at it again it was so alluring. The snarky main character is unapologetically funny as hell! Love this one!

Wild ride, with a crazy ending

I definitely didn't expect the end of this book. I don't want to give anything away. This was such a great story as always the writer finds away to keep us engaged and wanting more!! I absolutely love Mephisto, but will he sacrifice him and his brothers not being able to return home for Erin???... for how long?? I recommend this book and series, definitely one of the best.

Incredible

So for the record i received this Audio book from the author at no cost for review purposes.
My only complaint is that it wasn’t long enough and left me wanting more immediately. McKenzie gives just enough action, steam, and suspense to keep you wanting more.

I don’t do spoilers, but will say if you want to read this series, start with the first one and work up.

Keeps getting better!

Oh my goodness this book! I love the job the narrator does of bringing these characters to life. So many twists and turns have been revealed and I so many more I know are coming. The ending is not nice and I cannot wait to see what happens next.

This book takes everything up to another level

In the past, we have been along on the journey to get to know and eventually learn to get to know and like Erin. Is she the most perfect person? Absolutely not. But, we have also been able to follow along on her journey and see that she is trying her best to deal with everything that has been thrown at her.

Unfortunately, she is dealing with two very ALPHA and domineering men. There is Asher - an Alpha in his own right (he is the Alpha and CEO of the Northwest pack) and then there is Mephisto. He is one of the Huntsman - actually the Leader of the Huntsman - who we are beginning to learn is a god in his own right. What a battle to be in the middle of......

And, to top everything off. She happens to be the daughter of a CRAZY and psychopathic other god who would LOVE to have her killed without a second thought. If any of this sounds crazy....read the book. I can not even begin to explain it in a way that would give it the credit that it is due.

So....oh my gosh. Things are crazy. And, this is not to take away from the fact that she has TWO very AMAZING men trying to help and protect her. She also has a best friend who is a powerful witch and a sister who is the head of the STF (which is the supernatural task force put in place to deal with certain issues) things are getting OUT OF CONTROL.

All I can say is READ THIS BOOK. Start at the beginning and get to this point.

That is the only way that you will EVER understand my frustration at having to wait for the next book and having to wait to find out what is going to happen next.

I am NOT a patient person. I thought that maybe I was. But, I am realizing that with the state of my frustration that I may not have the level of patience that I thought I had.

Ugh.....time to wait for another book......

Keeps getting better!

The writing only gets better. I love the development of the characters and the relationships they have with each other. I laughed in one moment and was angry in the next. I am eager to find out what is going to happen next.

🐌 🔥 🦥

The narration was great 👍 you could follow each character just through voice.
the story kinda stalls though and where there's decent character development throughout it in some ways overpowers the pace of the story.
To put it plain I kept falling asleep and had to go back multiple times to finish it... 😴
I have enjoyed the premise of the series however I think I'm done chasing my tail with this storyline.

Not slow burn

I am OK with a slow burn Romance but this is no burn the story was good but a few times quite a few times you want to shake the female main character for being a Mary Sue and she’s not unfortunately I’m not going to finish out the series it’s just a no All I want to do is get the spoilers on the on the next book because I don’t want to take the time to listen to it

Updated after the book.

I’m having a very hard time getting past my disgust at how Asher is written. I can see no way to suspend my disbelief that any strong female character would let anyone treat her like he does. And then her best friend casually dismisses it as “oh that’s just how he is”. We get it He’s supposed to be some strong alpha male blah blah blah. With all the rest of her interactions with people it is absolutely unbelievable that she would allow his behaviour. I’m not sure if this is supposed to be some sexy domineering behaviour, but it makes her seem absolutely weak and pathetic. He’s not treating her like a supporting male interest, he’s treating her like a child and property and it takes a lot away from the story.

Cory is absolutely the worst written description of a marine I’ve come across. He’s closer to a angst ridden 20 year old art student.

And let’s not forget the part where she states over and over that she’s willing to kill any witch who tried to give her to a demon and yet spent the entire book refusing to do just that, resulting in the ending being what it is. In fact this MC does that throughout the book “I’ll kill my mother.” “I can’t kill her she’s my mother.” “I have to kill my Mother to get my life back.” “No adopted mom I promise I won’t kill her”. It’s all just too much.

Lastly, the cliff hanger ending. Absolutely NOTHING in this storyline was resolved in this book. Zero sense of closure in anything just more problems added. It was a very unsatisfactory ending. A cliffhanger is one thing when it’s a follow up to some closure of previous story arcs. This wasn’t that.
