Publisher's summary

When photojournalist Kamaria Trayhern goes undercover at the Mason family ranch, she's hoping to find her real father, not romance. But keeping everyone convinced she is who she claims to be will be harder than she expects - especially where one sexy ranch hand is concerned.

After all he's been through, there's no way Wesley Sheridan wants to tangle with more heartache and lies. So the last thing he needs is to be drawn to the pretty new caretaker. But with a jealous killer out to rewrite Mason family history forever, two lonely hearts must learn to trust each other - if they hope to survive the season.

Loved listening to this book. I probably would not have finished it, if I was reading it. lost interest a couple of times.

Cannot stand the narrator!

The story is ok, a little corny, but not bad. I'm glad I got it during the sale, I would have been very upset to have used a credit for this.
The narrator ruins anything good about the book. His intonations are wrong 95% of the time. When someone is upset they become whiney and over emotional. Many voices are way too harsh. I have the second book because I got it during the sale for the first two books in a series, I'll listen to the second one, but won't get another, I don't think I can listen to this guy mangle any more stories.

Needs more story and better narrator!

How could the performance have been better?

The narrator was HORRIBLE! The story was decent although not really much to it. It all seemed very shallow to me.

Any additional comments?

I feel like it stopped in the middle of the story! I hated the ending. There was too much filler but not enough story!

Wyoming Beautiful Setting

Detail and locale are so descriptive as are the characters. Most is accurate and well-researched and you want to be there as the conflicts arise. Sweet romance and intrigue grow. Good read.

Only edit as horse and ranching knowledge is strong: no self-respecting cowboy would actually sit in saddle with knee crooked over his saddle horn. Recipe for disaster even with the calmest horse alive. Just sayin’!

Terrible reader!

This reader is awful. I love this author, but I will never buy a book with him reading again. His voice and interpretation just makes my skin crawl! !! I have no idea what the story is about because I had to turn it off. That voice! !!!!!!

Nothing Special

I tried several times - usually I love cowboy stories - but I just didn't find anything special about this story.

Don't waste your time or money.

Without a doubt the worst audio book I have ever listened to. This author will go on my never again list. There are so many things wrong with this whole story that I don't have the time to list them all. I wouldn't even give this one star I I didn't have to.

Formula written

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I am not sure if this book or performance could ever be an 4 or 5 experience. The book had the feel of a first write for a college student. Hopefully Ms. MicKenna will improve as she matures. The book is sooooooo predictable that it is Boring. A western gal myself, I hate it when the reader makes everything sound like a HICKfest. The book might have been better if it had a different reader......although not likely.

What was most disappointing about Lindsay McKenna’s story?

How unremarkable it was.

What didn’t you like about Anthony Haden Salerno’s performance?

The way he did the women's voices.

What character would you cut from Shadows from the Past?

The legitimate daughter. I can't even remember her name.

Any additional comments?

I purchased this book because it was on sale. Even on sale, it was not worth the money or the time listening.
