About this listen

An unsettling investigation teaches two suspicious people how to trust, in the next thrilling novel of the Lost Night Files trilogy by New York Times bestselling author Jayne Ann Krentz.

Amelia Rivers, a member of the Lost Night Files podcast team, hires private investigator Gideon Sweetwater to catch the stalker who has been watching her. Amelia suspects that whoever it is may be connected to the shadowy organization responsible for the night that she and her two friends lost to amnesia—a night that upended their lives and left them with heightened paranormal talents.

Gideon believes that Amelia is either paranoid or an outright con artist, but they have a chemistry he can’t resist. He takes the case despite his skepticism. For her part, Amelia has second thoughts about the wisdom of employing the mysterious Mr. Sweetwater. She is wary of the powerful attraction between them and deeply uneasy about the nightmarish paintings on the walls of his home. She senses these were inspired by his own dreams.

Amelia knows she doesn’t have time to find another investigator, and Gideon is forced to reckon with the truth when he disrupts what was intended to be Amelia’s kidnapping. Now the pair is on the run, with no choice but to return to the haunting ruins of the old hotel where Amelia’s lost night occurred. They are desperate to stop a killer, as well as the people who are conducting illegal experiments with a dangerous drug designed to enhance psychic abilities. If they are to survive, they will have to trust each other and the passion that bonds them.

I have really enjoyed this trilogy and hope to see some of these characters again. This was a great way to end a series and still leave us wanting more!

A Great Ending to a Trilogy

I enjoyed the paranormal suspense. JAK did not disappoint with this trilogy. Recommend for fans of the paranormal mystery and suspense genres.

Thoroughly enjoyed!

Ok, so the Publisher’s Summary in Audible gives the basic storyline.
Amelia Rivers and Gideon Sweetwater are likable enough characters but not really memorable, as written.
I’m actually disappointed that JAK chose a name/member of the Sweetwater clan and then made him generic. I’d expect more of the character and story with that name. Why would he question her and treat her like a crackpot? Wrong angle, off kilter… it felt more immediately hostile vs questioning to get to the truth of the matter.
I did like how the plot came around to Gideon knowing who put together the list of names. And the tie back to Aurora Winston’s research from previous books/series. Actually, the Foundation & Victor Arkenbright, too. Although they were brought in during book 2, The Night Island.
Kaminsky did ok on the narration.

both satisfying and disappointing

This was the third and final book in this series as we followed along and met the three women who were lured to the Lucent Springs Hotel several months ago on what was supposed to be some type of interview. They each woke up the next day with absolutely NO memory of what occurred after they walked into the building. After the three women found each other, they were determined to discover what happened on that "Lost Night" and eventually started a podcast detailing their investigation.

Each of the women- Amelia, Talia and Pallas - had some type of psychic ability before that night but have discovered that it has increased and strengthened in volumes afterwards. The previous books in the series centered on Talia and Pallas and this time the focus is on Amelia.

She believes she is being stalked and hires a private investigator -Gideon Sweetwater - to help her discover who the stalker is. Gideon is initially a skeptic but he has some hidden talents of his own.

I have truly enjoyed this series and this book continues that tradition. I listened to this on audio and had no problems with the narrator, Eva Kaminsky. As always, once things get started, they do not stop and before you know it, Gideon and Amelia are in the middle of all kinds of craziness. There is non stop action, drama, paranormal mysteries, and of course, romantic suspense.

All in all a great series. I am definitely going to look for more books by this author :)

And now for Amelia....

Reworking of the past series of Arcane and some Harmony stories. Nothing really original or interesting. But it did help pass the time while I was sick. The narrator was not that great, a strong step above AI reader, but with about as much richness as a business report.

Eh, it was okay
