About this listen

Zoe is an interior designer with a unique sense of style. But even more uncanny is her sense of what's going on under the surface, the secrets a house can hold. At the moment, though, Zoe isn't concerned about a client's space. She's more worried about what's going on in her own house in Whispering Springs, Arizona, where she lives with her new husband, private investigator Ethan Truax.

After a whirlwind courtship and a dangerous adventure, they've gambled on commitment, hoping that their powerful attraction can help them learn to live together despite their utterly opposite personalities. But newlywed life is suddenly interrupted when a shadowy figure from Zoe's past shows up in Whispering Springs, and her closest friend is put at terrible risk. For Zoe and Arcadia Ames share a shocking secret. And as they seek to protect the truth, they must join together and, with Ethan's help, accept a very dangerous dare.

I really enjoyed the book

Amanda Cobb read this very well. I believe she understood the characters better than the average readers.
I’ve always enjoyed the writings of Jayne Ann Krentz. Her books always make for an enjoyable read. Her characters have depth and character.

love the story/Jayne Krentz

Love the story itself but had a hard time listening to narrator. Her voice went up and down in what felt like the wrong places.

Outstanding!

This was part 2 in the Whispering Springs series, and it was even better than part one!
LOVED Zoe and Ethan and all their friends!
I would certainly buy any subsequent books in the series, although I have no idea if they even exist. JAK is a master in this genre!!❤️

Reader distracted from the story

This teaser was different from the reader from Light in Shadow. I found that the voices this reader used were not will chosen and distracted from the story.

Screaming Walls

I wasn't really convinced by the summary of the book, but I was pleasantly surprised by the recording. I especially enjoyed the banter between Zoe and Ethan. It seemed very real. I'm not sure I bought the whole psychic designer bit... (I don't think the plot needed that.) Overall, it was a fun listen. I liked the interaction with the disheveled neighbor at Casa de Oro in particular. Great narrator. Fun characters, but not my favorite JAK novel.

Loved this sequel

Why are there only 2 books in this richly layered series? I liked both books much and felt there was so much material for another book. Two lead characters who always need to worry about money-very unusual in this genre. It helps make them more relatable. They are funny, full of angst, clever, compassionate, etc. Really enjoyed both books.

narrator not for me

i found that she didn't provide a lot of distinction between the different characters, especially the male voices.
Definitely prefer the older 2003 version with Joyce Bean, which is now hard to find (listened to it from the library).

Reader spoils it.

Somewhere there is an older version of this audiobook with a much better reader. I have always liked this two-part story but this reader just ruined it.
