Great narration…okay story

I am a huge fan of Jayne Ann Krentz and normally love her books. I read this in paperback many years ago and it was fine. The audible version (the same as the paperback) didn’t let me skip over some of the not so great points (bordering on misogyny).

It’s a great book, but some of the behavior towards women is less than appealing in todays society.

The narration was fantastic. Mr Colacci gave a great performance with consistent voices and inflection. I’ll definitely listen to more of his readings. I’ll listen to more of Jaynes books too…but I’ll remember this piece of it.

Entitled, judgmental and rude heroine

I usually really enjoy Jane Ann Krentz’s work. This book, however, was very difficult to get through. The female character was entitled, spoiled, judgmental, overbearing, and even though she was meant to be a shrew… She reminded me of a two-year-old that was absolutely positive that she knew the best thing for everyone to do, even in the face of rational and logical evidence — and it was just wearing. This book made me wonder if JAK has started hating men, or does she just enjoy writing women characters that should never have the honor of a good man in their life or being in a relationship.

Bad Reader can ruin a good book!

The story was about 2 people a romance & their differing views about life It was a fantasy as one individual was supposed to be able to do psychometry (the ability to discover facts about an event or person by touching inanimate objects associated with them). It was a really great read when it was published and I also have the books on tape version. I was thrilled to know that Tantor had someone do an audiobook to download. The reader put no heart, interest, no feeling or inflection in the voices and in the discussions of the conversations between the individuals. I loved the story and he made it absolutely BORING!! Gosh, I hated this. It was so bad that I purchased software and transferred my tapes to iTunes. Great. I hate it when a reader RUINS a book and he did it for me. I am sorry for this as it had been a good story.no one will want to listen. As I didn't and could barely finish it.

Jayne Ann Krentz is my favorite writer ❤️

I've always loved her stories, this reader isn't terrible....but they aren't a great choice for this story. he's a bit dry-toned....this story maybe be suspenseful but there was Alot of tension and hot tempered bantering this person read like a mild quip lol. still a great story.

Wrong voice for this book

Did not like the dynamic between the the couple. Man too domineering. The narrator’s voice was hard to listen to.

A paranormal Romance “Oldie” from 1989

I have read this book a number of times over the yrs. This time I didn’t enjoy it as much as remembered. I guess the macho guy/argumentative & insecure woman didn’t appeal anymore. Other Oldie JAK novels have held up better over time. YMMV. The narration was good.

Tedious and boring narrator voice

I liked the overall story line but the narrator bored me to rears. I even speeded up the playback and that didn't help at all. I didn't particularly like the two main characters either. I endured only because I wanted to know how it all ended.
