About this listen

From the moment Officer Ethan Hale pulls Abby Foster from icy waters, he senses there’s more to her than meets the eye. Abby has no memory of the accident that submerged her car in the frozen river. Three years ago, Abby was kidnapped and abandoned in a well for a week. The botched police investigation nearly killed her. Abby had moved to the mountains of Pennsylvania for a fresh start, but when it becomes clear that this car crash wasn’t an accident, she knows the violence from her past has caught up with her.

But Abby’s former assailant was convicted and imprisoned, so who else wants her dead?

Ethan uncovers a fresh string of murders tied to Abby’s past. Someone is trying to kill her, and this time, the stalker seems determined to finish the task. As the killer grows bolder, Abby begins to trust Ethan enough to share the truth, her heart, and her life. But to stop the murders, Ethan must make a decision that could jeopardize it all.

This narration is very good. The story is full of mystery and suspense. The characters are wonderful. (There is some darkness in this book that can be disturbing for some.)

Great suspense

Melinda Leigh writes an awesome mystery. Too bad she includes so much frivolous sexual content. These stories are plenty good to sell on their own merit.

Excellent, but

Love this author, love the characters she creates. I think her books would make for a good TV series.

This so far has been the best book in the series. Not real crazy about the narrator, but she was OK. Abby had everything imaginable happened to her. This story had a lot of twist and turns and I didn’t see the end coming.

Good entertainment. Was not crazy about the narrator at first, but it got better as the story went along. I will definitely try more from this author.

I've enjoyed this series that combined good mysteries with good romance for a nice, well-rounded read. This one features local cop and all-around nice guy Ethan Hale as he saves Abby Foster from a submerged car. The series has seen Ethan around before: he's a good, solid character and very likable. He's also very attracted to the victim he just saved from the icy river.

There's just one problem, though. Abby doesn't trust cops, and because of that she doesn't always make the smartest move. She can be a bit impulsive, making her seem at times like the high school cheerleader that runs into basement in the horror movie. But there's actually a lot more to her than that: she's smart, fiercely loyal, and sweet. She's just spent a lifetime watching everyone she loved let her down.

This story has a lot of heart as well as a good amount of steaminess with Abby and Ethan. But it's still a good, solid thriller besides.

Great Combo of Thriller with a Side of Romance
