About this listen

It's Lily Parker's first day at a new high school. She's a senior finishing her last semester, and all she wants to do is graduate and get out of town. Her home life is a secret hell, and she's trying to find a way out. But everything changes when Ren says hello and sees right through to her truth.

Ren Hendrick's succeeds at everything he touches, including football. But he's never been passionate about anything. He's quiet and keeps to himself, which pisses people off. But he can't find the desire to care. He's lived a life without color, until Lily walks in and lights up his world.

Their story is one of sweet young love and finding your forever before you can even dream of what that is. It's one of protecting what belongs to you and having the courage to follow your heart, no matter your age.

Warning: Call your dentist and schedule an appointment, because you're going to get nothing but cavities from this sugary book. Ren and Lily start off so innocent, but by the time it's over, you're gonna need to hose yourself off. We're talking two virgins who turn into maniacs. You're welcome!

The storyline is perfect. The writing and dialogue throughout fits the characters and is so realistic. It’s not a fairy tale. I also loved that Lilly immediately told Ren when Christy had lied to her about the football players (and about Ren specifically) only wanting to have sex with the new girls.

Laurie West was perfect and I could hear Lilly’s voice in her narration. And although Zhinter Millbrook has a deep, sexy voice, his voice was too old for an 18 years old Ren. I am noticing this more and more. It seems that predominately the male narrators (and to a lesser degree female narrators) are selected for their ability to perform multiple voices in both sexes as opposed to fitting the age of the characters. More younger male narrators are needed.

I loved this sweet romance. The male narration could have been better.

I loved this story! I am a huge fan of AR's work, but this one is a bit different and truly special. This is a "first love" story done so right. Ren is a perfect portrayal of an introverted, highly talented athlete that despite his obvious physical prowess and the resultant popularity it brings, does not really "connect" with anyone. Lily is his perfect match, a gifted artist who is painfully shy, delicate, fragile, and unfathomably sweet. Ren's reaction to her is immediate, visceral and downright adorable. This is my favorite go to read to wind down from a really tough day. It absolutely transports you into a world where the boy not only gets the girl but, vanquishes all her demons, climbs through a tower of fear, abuse and tragedy to bring her to happiness. I love it! The readers are beyond perfection in this one, which just makes it all the better.

One of my favorites!

Lily walked into class and walked into her future, full of love and passion. Ren is a loveable caveman who found his life's passion. The two person readers were fun.

This was the sweetest romance I’ve read (or listened to) in a long time. I LOVE the characters! The story was lovely and low angst, some thing you just need some times. The epilogue(s) were perfect. I’m not usually a repeat reader but I’m glad I bought this one because I will probably be revisiting it in the future.💖

This was such a cute love story and great performance. The author and narrators were new to me and they won't be my last. This story was good escape and it was easy listen. I'm glad that the author focused on the main characters and didn't deter the story to other characters. I highly recommend!
