About this listen

Dustin Bridges has always had two things he could count on—his fearless instincts behind the wheel and the support of his two best friends, Tommy and Hannah Judge.

Dustin brought the speed. Tommy, the brains. And Hannah . . . she was the glue that held everyone together.

Together, they were unstoppable.

From the dirt tracks of their youth to the late-night drag races under a desert moon as teens, the Judge siblings pushed and watched in awe as their friend edged closer to his dream. Always racing, always running. That was Dustin's gift and curse. And while his life at home was unbearable, his world with the Judges always seemed perfect.

Growing up with people makes for a special bond. But sometimes life has a way of testing just how strong a relationship is. And falling in love with one of your best friends, not to mention your other best friend's sister? Well, that can be the toughest test of all.

Heartbreak doesn't know what it's up against, though, because when there is a prize to be won, nobody bets against Dustin Bridges.

Entertaining and interesting story!

This was a entertaining and interesting story. I really enjoyed getting to know Dustin and Hannah as well as Tommy. They grew up together and while Dustin and Tommy (Hannah's brother) are best friends Dustin and Hannah are too. They have a bit of a different relationship/friendship and one that has bordered on more without ever crossing that line though the feelings are there. Dustin has an abusive father and his sanctuary is the Judge's house. I loved watching them on the racing circuit as they grew up racing Karts and both Dustin and Tommy being good, though Dustin had that extra special something. It is his dream to become a professional. They race cars out on The Straights now with some illegal street racing though the local cops turn a blind eye to it. This is Dustin and Tommy's senior year with Hannah being a year younger and things finally take that turn between Hannah and Dustin. They take that step, though they get push back from Tommy and once they end up coming out with it, it does not go smoothly with her parents either. Things aren't easy for Dustin and he is trying to find a way to walk that line and prove he can be good enough for Hannah and follow his dream and make something of himself. And not turn out like his father. They definitely have obstacles in front of them but they have a connection and a bond that is undeniable and that continually pulls them back together. This story was engaging and I enjoyed the characters. This book is the first in a 3 part series for Dustin and Hannah and it does end on a cliffhanger that broke my heart and I needed to start the next one right away.
The narrators did a good job with the story and the characters to add that extra dynamic to bring it to life.
