About this listen

For Rebecca Bloomwood, life is peachy. She has a job on morning TV, her bank manager is actually being nice to her, and when it comes to spending money, her new motto is Buy Only What You Need—and she's really (sort of) sticking to it. The icing on the brioche is that she's been offered a chance to work in New York.

New York! The Museum of Modern Art! The Guggenheim! The Metropolitan Opera House! And Becky does mean to go to them all. Honestly. It's just that it seems silly not to check out a few other famous places first. Like Saks. And Bloomingdales. And Barneys. And one of those fantastic sample sales where you can get a Prada dress for $10. Or was it $100? Is Becky too dazzled to care?

The independence & optimism is great!

I don’t always love just how much content is about poor spending habits, sometimes it makes me uncomfortable! Overall very entertaining & keeps your attention. Love the narrator!

Bad notation spoils the enjoyment

I love the shopaholic series. I have been waiting for the Shopaholic Abroad in the audio version for a while. And what a disappointment. Was it a good idea to have Nell Hudson with a pronounced lisp to be a narrator. Plus her style is really monotone and boring. None of the Becky vibe which Emily Gray manages so fantastically well. Why to mess with a good practice and proven success and change a narrator. This killed such a wonderful book. Disappointed.

Thr accent, I loved the British accent and the words for US words.

I very much enjoyed! I felt like I was right there with Becky and experiencing all her emotions!

Nice to have

It took forever for this to come out as an audiobook so it’s great that it finally did. I don’t know why but there’s a couple of parts that don’t appear in the US print version. In a couple of places, there’s bad editing. You can hear pages turning and the reader gets “wet mouth” (where you can hear their lips unsticking from their teeth). Some may not mind but that sound makes me feel sick.

Too much fluff

The first half was too silly and made Becky look like an idiot. She lied constantly when the truth was so much better. At least the last part she reclaimed some if her sanity

Love love love this book, it is so much fun!

I just love hearing the Shopaholic series books, Becky is so funny and we can all relate to her shopping addiction at some point as ladies. I love the reader if the book also, she really brings it to life.

Terrible

It is the exact same story as “confessions of a shopaholic” ! I can’t believe I wasted my time listening to it!

Terrible

This is the first book I actually stopped listening to pretty early on, so boring and repetitive
