About this listen

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Party Crasher and Love Your Life … With her shopping excesses (somewhat) in check and her career as a TV financial guru thriving, Becky Bloomwood’s biggest problem seems to be tearing her entrepreneur boyfriend, Luke, away from work for a romantic country weekend.

That is, until Luke announces he’s moving to New York for business—and he asks Becky to go with him! Before you can say “Prada sample sale,” Becky has landed in the Big Apple, home of Park Avenue penthouses and luxury department stores.

Surely it’s only a matter of time until Becky becomes an American celebrity. She and Luke will be the toast of Gotham society. Nothing can stand in their way, especially with Becky’s bills an ocean away in London. But then an unexpected disaster threatens her career prospects, her relationship with Luke, and her available credit line. Becky may have taken Manhattan—but will she have to return it?

“[Sophie] Kinsella’s Bloomwood is plucky and funny. … You won’t have to shop around to find a more winning protagonist.” —People

Another adventure with Becky, and another excellent job on the narration by Nell Hudson. I'll move on to the third book shortly.

A worthy sequel

I absolutely love all things Sophie Kinsella, since I was in college! After listening to her most recent book, I decided to purchase all of her audible books. The new narrator makes for an easy listen, but the smacking wet mouth sounds she does into the mic really make me cringe. It makes me feel like someone is smacking a particularly juicy fruit in my ear with their mouth wide open! Usually I think those sounds are edited out, but not in this case. I was able to get through it only because she has a very nice voice and because I've been a fan of Sophie Kinsella for many years, otherwise I would have returned it!

Nostalgic read, great narration, but wet mouth smacking made me cringe

This is my 2nd Shopaholic book and I'm enjoying them, especially looking back on my younger years buying clothes, etc. So who looked in my closet?
I'm looking forward to reading more of them. But Audible doesn't seem to notice that this book, Shopaholic Takes Manhatten, is the SAME EXACT BOOK as Shopaholic Goes Abroad. Same photo cover, same description. I almost got sucked in buying the other before I realized it was the same book but different title. Shame on you, Audible.

Enjoyable and fun light listening

Loved listening to this narration of a favourite book I haven’t read for about 10 years. Highly recommend

A wonderful way to revisit a favourite book

I love the series but the narrators voice and the extra mouth noise is painful.

Narrator killed me

The book was changed from the original. The original story was better. I wish it wasn’t rewritten.

It was rewritten

The first book seemed to wrap up too nicely so I was kinda happy to see it all come crashing down and it feels more realistic of additive behavior. Love all the crazy plots in this book especially the scene at the nunnery.

Slayyy

This audiobook is Extremely FRUSTRATING. I first read this book when it was published, and all the edits are 100% unnecessary. I have no idea why they have edited it so much. I’d like to know why they edited a story that was already great the way it was. The problem with the editing a story that’s been around, as Becky would say, for ages, is that you’re changing a story people are already familiar with as though it’s from some bizarro alternate universe. Why bother even recording it, or in this case re-recording it, if you’re going to do that? VERY disappointing and, again, frustrating. I’m going back to the Emily Grey recording, somehow putting it on my phone.
I gave high stars for the performance since it’s not the actor’s fault the editors ruined it.

Needless edits to a classic great story
