About this listen

"I tried to think of something - anything - to calm my raging hard-on. One wrong move and Leah Mae would rub up against it and that was liable to kill me dead on the spot.”

Model turned disgraced reality TV starlet, Leah Mae Larkin, crash lands in her hometown of Bootleg Springs to lay low while a scandal threatens her career. She can’t shake the feeling that her agent - and supposed fiancé - manipulated her into the role of made-for-TV homewrecker. Connecting with her roots is just what she needs, and Bootleg Springs is home to her father, moonshine, and her childhood best friend, Jameson Bodine.

Only there’s nothing childlike about Jameson - a man who turns scrap metal into art and isn’t afraid to throw down on a rowdy Friday night with his brothers and hellcat sister. He might not say much, but still waters run deep. Seeing the ring on his crush’s finger? He doesn’t like it, but he can’t wish it away. No more than he can wish away the trouble his family is in, with evidence pointing to his late father in the cold case disappearance of Callie Kendall.

Jameson and Leah Mae are just two friends reliving their summers together, blowing off steam, and having fun for the first time in a long time. But Leah Mae is realizing what’s really important in her life, and it isn’t what she thought.

And sometimes steam turns into sparks - hot as molten steel - and friends aren’t just friends.

Loved it!

Loved Leah Mae and Jameson’s love story. Two people who were at one point best friends. Losing touch over the years and finally reconnecting. I loved every moment that Jameson cherished Leah for who she is and not what the world saw her as. The audio was absolutely PERFECT! The narrators really brought the story to life!

Bootleg Brought to Life!

The second book is even better than the first and that first kiss scene read aloud, HOT!

I am so glad Stephen and Natalie did the series and how slightly different they do each character.

Jameson is a the quiet artsy type that really keeps to himself, Leah Mae is in the spotlight as childhood friends they were very close but didn't act on any feelings. Once the disappearance happens Leah goes off with her mom and Jameson doesn't see Leah again until they are adults. Leah comes to Bootleg to help her daddy and kinda stay off the grid due to the reality show she is on and how they are portraying her.

You can read or listen to this as a standalone but id go back to the first book of the series.

The story is great, but the man’s voice is distracting when reading as the woman

Yes, it’s true. In these books there are both but they read in each others “ head” . When the part is in Jamie’s name and he speaks with a female, it’s in a man’s voice (if you can call it that- it WAS SO DISTRACTING FROM THE STORY - imagine a man pretending to be a woman putting his hands on his hips acting all pouting with a higher voice).

I love the story and the characters- I’m busy so if I “ want to read” I have to use audible books. But dang, lol, it’s distracting. The lady is lovely. Men = men’s parts women= women parts imo is the way it should be

Another great addition

This was a great continuation of the story. Was good to still be able to occasionally see characters from past books while getting to know new ones as well. Looking forward to the next installment!

Great romance. Lots of steam, be warned.

Less mystery, more romance than the first book. Cute but not as funny either. A good solid listen but I’m hoping the 3rd in the series is as funny and engaging as the authors other works.

Sweet Love Story

Loved the shy adorable gentleman that was Jameson Bodine. The love story between Leah Mae and Jameson, was a sweet fairytale. Love and trust from their childhood, only to come back years later and finding each other again. Jameson is the best kind sweet country boy charm, humble and gorgeous with a hot sexy side and Stephen and Natalie rocked the story.

Sweet, steamy, and all the feels

This is my second time listening to the audio version of Claire and Lucy‘s Bootleg Springs. I love the healing that occurs with all of these characters throughout the story. The characters feel real and the underlying mystery is a nice addition. I highly recommend this sweet yet spicy happily ever after with phenomenal narration.

Childhood friends to lovers

I loved the story of these two. Childhood best friends, torn apart when they were kids and re-untied as adults. She’s a famous model who’s getting a little too old now for modelling and being pushed into acting. She did a reality (more of a scripted) tv show. She was made out to be something she wasn’t. She goes home for a break from it all and visits her daddy. She runs into her childhood best friend. He was always shy with everyone but her. It’s like no time has passed. However, she’s now engaged and it’s to someone else.
This does have a HEA!! Just had a couple bumps along the way!! Great narration of the book by Stephen Dexter and Natalie Duke!!

Love it all!

Sometimes I just want to listen to a great audible book without suspense and I love this series. The narrators couldn’t be any better!
