About this listen

Josie Baylor-Bates has a full plate caring for a troubled teen, but it's about to get fuller when her ex-cop lover, Archer, is accused of murdering his disabled stepson - a son Josie never knew he had.

When Timothy Wren died at California's oldest amusement park, it appeared to be a tragic accident. But now Timothy's biological father and the district attorney are out for blood. Is this a criminal action with merit, a vendetta, or is there a big cash settlement in the offing?

For Josie, the stakes are higher - it's personal. She races against time to prove someone is framing Archer, and her faith in him is tested by his honesty regarding his feelings about his stepson. Finally, she finds the truth lies with not in Archer's words but with a long-forgotten silent witness.

A little disappointed.

Read the first one, it was very good. This story line was good, but most of the characters were hateful. Seems they were all despicable. Kinda of weird that hardly any of the main characters not likable. Just a bunch of hateful people. I try one more book to see if it changes. It was disappointing to see Josie take in Hanna and have so little affection or love for the girl. Hanna would have been better off going to a family that was warm instead of always trying to get affection from such a cold person.

Good story!

Plot is excellent Clever who done it. Love the characters. Jo’s tone and hard dialogue is at times too much.

Rebecca Forster does it again!

I'm really loving this series! After reading Hostile Witness and Silent Witness, I marvel at the unflappable, unstoppable Josie Bates, creatively crafted by this gifted author! Looking foward to Book 3, and the rest of this series!

What else could go wrong, but feels so right.

Excellently written leaves you thirsty for more than what's here, ABSOLUTELY captivating and creative writing that draws you in and keeps you entertained for hours. ABSOLUTELY astounds me. Just when you think there is nothing more that could happen, another twist and exceptional. This is a must read. The narrator's display and pronunciation is exquisite and very tastefully done. Excellent !!!

The narration is top tier!

This book was good! I had a few hunches while listening and one panned out! I enjoy the narrator though. She gives the story feeling and emotion. On to the 3rd book in this series!

I really enjoyed this book

Another great read! A good storyline, a good amount of suspense to keep you guessing and wanting to help solve the case. I also enjoy the characters of this series. Great performance, I tend to speed up the tempo , but her voice is clear, and really gives me a great picture of the characters. I don’t know how I stumbled across Rebecca’s first book but I am glad I did. On to the next book in this series!

Blasphemy cost this book stars.

Good story and great performance. Excessive profanity and the blasphemy make me not want any more books from this author.

Boring

I couldn’t get past the voices the reader was using. Didn’t feel they went along with the characters as I felt they had been written.
