About this listen

She's a small-town girl with big dreams and a painful past. He's a superstar with a secret and something to prove. Will these two learn to trust each other, or will forces beyond their control tear them apart?

When Josie Carter found out she would be the head makeup artist for the famous Rodney Bator, it was hard not to be a little star struck. Working on her first big motion picture was a dream for the girl from Arkansas. Her own passion for acting was pushed aside many years ago after a terrible accident that killed her eldest sister. Tragedy has blurred her vision of the world and made her apprehensive to accept anything good in life, including the kindness and love of the incredible actor she works with every day.

All Rodney Bator ever wanted in life was to prove to other werewolves that it was possible to live in the midst of humans and not risk discovery. The old-world superstitions that sent many of his kind, including his father, into hiding have become a thing of the past. Still, fear and suspicion persist. Faced with the growing anger of the world's alphas and mounting family pressure, Rodney is ready to hang up his actor hat and settle down for good. And he knows just who he wants to settle down with. Can he convince a reluctant Josie to take a chance on love, or will she run for the hills when she learns his secret?

But, after a fatal mistake is made in a moment of carelessness, a new darkness is encroaching on their plans. A plot twist is coming that they would have never expected, and more than just the success of the project is on the line. Can their love keep the show going when their lives become endangered?

Awesome story!

I really enjoyed this book. Not a huge fan of the narrator, but it’s not enough to keep me from listening to more from both the author and narrator.

Playful way to fall in love

The story is a fun twist on a modern day, mystic tale while respecting the classic "Wolfman". Josie and Rodney are intriguing characters and their story is a simple, lighthearted love despite great character depth. Loved it developing on a movie set--My only critique would be that the end is smart, if a bit anticlimactic. I was intrigued by the side characters so I definitely have to check out her other books!

Fun adaptation of the older story's.

Loved the moments I could shut the world away. caught in the concept of a different perspective. Great way to wile away my afternoon.

Just an ok story but not in love with the narrator

Honestly, the story could have been better but I don't know if it's the story I didn't love or the narrator made it worse. The narrator's voice reminded me of reading aloud in class when you try to use your most proper, clearly articulate, and projected voice or when your teacher is reading to you (not in the cool elementary school way). There was barely any feeling or emotion behind the words and most of the character voices were incredibly nasally and hard to listen to. Props for getting in a descent Scottish accent but it's really hard to get into a story when you feel like you're listening to a teacher reading from a textbook.
