About this listen

For over two decades, Sherrilyn Kenyon fans have been begging to know more about Acheron's demon.

Simi has always been the absolute fan favorite since the day she first flounced onto pages and won listeners' hearts. Now, those dedicated fans will learn the truth...

Life as a demon is never an easy one. Orphaned as a child, Simi was left to make her own way in the world of humans. Bound to the Atlantean god who caused the death of her mother, she's spent her life trying to make sense of a world that baffles her.

As the gods vie for a power that leaves demons, Dark-Hunters, and humans struggling to take sides, Simi can no longer rely on the god, Acheron, for protection. She must find her own way. Not just for herself, but to save the lives of her family and friends.

Only one entity holds the secret she needs to save Acheron's life. But the price it demands is steep, and it will leave her at the mercy of a creature known for cruelty. Her choice should be easy: save Acheron at all costs. Yet, some prices are too high, and by saving Acheron, she just might destroy everything.

was not expecting the love interest to turn out being who it was, that was a surprise. the beginning was a little slow for me felt a little like rereading acheron, styxx, and stygian but I know the author is building background for the next books. overall a great read and a great chapter in one of our favorite characters storie. looking forward to the next

this authors books are always fantastic. Simi is sweet deadly and funny

The story was what I had hoped Simi’s story would be! However the voice that was used for her sounded like Elmo, it took a lot from the emotional moments.

Distracting voice acting

Spoilers warning:

Now I love the dark hunters series and each story is unique in its own way. I especially love how each story tie in to one another and one key aspect of this is Acheron… and his little demon daughter Simi.

That being said, I won’t lie when I’ve made ALOT of assumptions going into this book. But when the description says “one entity holds the key to saving Acheron’s life” you’d expect to see the story take more of a focus on these (and the love interest of course) but primarily these two.

Sadly, that wasn’t what happened. It was nice to see things from Simi point of view but unlike Styxx’s book. There hardly any new detail from what we didn’t already know (if you’ve read the previous Dark Hunters series) and at some points if just felt like I was basically getting a recap of events that happened.

There was no new threat to Acheron’s life that we didn’t see before. There was no entity that held the secret Simi needed to save her father.

That being said. This last one is just a personal opinion.
But I do not care for Thorn at all. lol

Now, personal feelings aside. It felt like he was just there to lengthen the story. Ya know, the character that there to push things along when needed.

While some things were interesting. Honestly it just seem like it was a struggle to NOT give the spotlight to Acheron. (Which I mean. I can completely understand if that is the case). His story been told and is done. (I stand with Styxx though >.>)

But when you have a story centered around his girl Simi. It kinda hard to put such a character with a strong presence in the background. But again, I fully expected him to have more of a presence in this story.

And Thorn… just didn’t… fit? There wasn’t really no significant to him to the story. Even at the very end it just seemed like he threw a tantrum to get attention from Simi.

He didn’t add anything to the story itself and honestly if you removed him and threw any other character in his position it would feel the same.

This journey IS Simi’s story and I really didn’t get that from the book. Just a guy who has 2 different baby mamas but always wanted Simi and Simi just retelling already known events from her perspective.

One last thing. Promise. But I love the Voice Actor Simi impression. It was great and made me laugh throughout the whole thing! 💗

Abit misleading
