About this listen

Supernatural warriors bound by an extraordinary code of honor face an ultimate test of loyalty in the exciting new paranormal thriller from bestselling authors Sherrilyn Kenyon and Dianna Love.

Atlanta has become the battlefield between human and demon.

An outcast among Beladors, Evalle Kincaid has walked the line between human and beast her whole life. Her origins unknown, she’s on a quest to learn more about her past—and her future. When a demon claims a young woman in a terrifying attack and there’s no one else to blame, Evalle comes under suspicion and the only person who might help her is Storm, a sexy new agent with secrets of his own.

Now she’s on a deadly quest for her own survival. Through the sordid underground of an alternate Atlanta where nothing is as it seems, to the front lines of the city where her former allies have joined forces to hunt her, Evalle must prove her innocence or pay the ultimate price.

But saving herself is the least of her problems if she doesn’t stop the coming apocalypse. The clock is ticking, and Atlanta is about to catch fire.

Had potential butt

The author just randomly introduces plot and characters without any back story and you're just left to assume or know some type of history that hasn't been previously presented

The book was good, I enjoyed the story line. The narrator is a little boring. I wish they had used Travis Baldree, overall t was good.

weell

I've alot of audible books, this one , story line and all was just, bland. it never had that thing that makes it a good listen. sorta like a book for teenagers. kept fast forwarding hopping she would get the stone to shut everyone up so that maybe I could possibly be mildly interested in listening to the 2nd book. lol. wishful thinking gets you everything

Complex characters with imaginative world building

Who do you trust when you have been hurt? It's a difficult question to answer when their are complicated characters to assess. This mystery is what makes this novel compelling for me. There are jerks who are on the good side. There are friends who want to help you but have lives, duties and their own backstories. There are smooth talkers saying what you want to hear. And their are ones who are on the bad side driven by their own tragic backstory. Enjoyable!

Absolutely adore the story and characters

This novel was addictive. I loved the characters portrayed in the novel. I have mixed emotions about the similarities between some of Sherry’s other novels and this one. But overall there’s a lot of new things in this novel that were very enjoyable and fun to read. I also love the slow burn aspect as far as the romance goes. Very thrilling and I’m already rushing for the next one in the series.

Narrator was a bit stiff - story is complex and slow with an excellent finish

Reminds me a bit of Iiona Andrews/ KF Breene. There’s so much going on in the world building that you can’t listen and work on anything else that’s going to require a lot of thought processing, if you do, you will end up going back once in a while because you missed a new player, or a new twist in the plot.
The book was long, and free with my subscription. The story had mixed reviews. It is interesting enough that it got me to tough it out through the beginning, when the narrator almost made me shut the book off.
Hang in there. The story is worth the early slog.
I’m hooked. Between the multiverse complexities, and the kick ass, motorcycle riding, female MC and her adorable pet gargoyle Feenoix, it is a worthwhile listen.
I’m off to book 2. Hopefully the narrator will relax a bit. His character voices are all separate and distinct, he does well with accents. It’s the sometimes ponderous timing and phrasing that made me occasionally wish I’d read this in print.

Adventurous, entertaining, and clean

I am pleased with the writing, the unique storyline, and the characters - and I love that these authors kept it clean. I will be getting the next book in the series if it is out!
