About this listen
Selling was already challenging enough.
Most Managed Service Providers slog their way through sales because they know their services will bring value to their clients. But now that cybersecurity has become a mandatory concern for all businesses, the world of sales is even more uncertain.
What value does managed security bring when there’s no way to promise ROI? How do you convince small business owners to part with their hard-earned revenue when they don’t feel vulnerable to a cyberattack? What is the best way to mitigate your clients’ risk without feeling dishonest or using slimy sales tactics? And could someone please demystify sales and make it easy?
This book is the answer to all those questions and more. Forged in the steel of real-world MSP successes and failures, you’ll learn how to sell cybersecurity, simply and easily—even for the techiest tech in the industry.

People don't buy from people they like. No! Your buyer doesn't care about you or your product or service. It's not your job to overcome objections, it's your buyer's. Closing isn't a skill of good salespeople; it's the skill of weak salespeople. Price isn't the main reason salespeople lose the sale. Gap Selling shreds traditional and closely held sales beliefs that have been hurting salespeople for decades. For years, salespeople have embraced a myriad of sales tactics and belief systems that have unknowingly created many of the issues they have been trying to avoid.

We live in a world that’s obsessed with talent. We celebrate gifted students in school, natural athletes in sports, and child prodigies in music. But admiring people who start out with innate advantages leads us to overlook the distance we ourselves can travel. We underestimate the range of skills that we can learn and how good we can become. We can all improve at improving. And when opportunity doesn’t knock, there are ways to build a door.

Story
On May 31, 2014, in the Milwaukee suburb of Waukesha, Wisconsin, two 12-year-old girls attempted to stab their classmate to death. Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier’s violence was extreme, but what seemed even more frightening was that they committed their crime under the influence of a figure born by the internet: the so-called “Slenderman”. Yet the even more urgent aspect of the story, that the children involved suffered from undiagnosed mental illnesses, often went overlooked in coverage of the case.

The grid is an accident of history and of culture, in no way intrinsic to how we produce, deliver and consume electrical power. Yet this is the system the United States ended up with, a jerry-built structure now so rickety and near collapse that a strong wind or a hot day can bring it to a grinding halt. The grid is now under threat from a new source: renewable and variable energy, which puts stress on its logics as much as its components.

Sincere and helpful
Jennifer provides a solid framework for how to sell cybersecurity. There are no "used car salesman" techniques. Just being a genuine human and framing things in an honest way that adds value to a client. You don't have to become "salesy". She simply helps you understand the value proposition and how to convey the importance of what you offer to your clients.
This book is for MSPs that want to make sure they have a handle on their value proposition and properly framing that and presenting it to your prospects, while avoiding fake "closing" techniques that turn people off.
I encourage you to check her out on podcasts and download her resources. She is a genuine and sincere person who is great at helping MSPs.
